A Fall finish

Here is the scarecrow I was stenciling the leaves on a couple weeks ago using the Tsukineko inks, I am pleased with how they came out. The picture doesn't do them justice, IMHO, they have a suttle sparkle to them. So the scarecrow is a preprinted panel that is kinda old, it is one of those door panels that you layer with batting and backing and sew around, cut out and slap on the door, LOL. I got it for $1 at a garage sale and thought I can spruce him up a bit by adding borders etc.
His background was pure white with candycorns and I used a little tan Rit Dye and am much happier with that color background. Then you know how we all scold ourselves from time to time about our large stash of fabrics? Well in this case it was soooo nice to go in the stash and have just the right color of grey that matches his pants for the little border and not have to go out shopping. Plus I had the right tanish for the chekerboard border which I quilted Terry Twist in. His pants and shirt were the most fun to quilt, I added straight quilting lines to his pants, and followed the checks in his shirt, and gave the pumpkins some lines. Then came those leaf blocks-I stitched around them and then the echoing began. Did I mention how fun this was to create!!

Hope everyone is having a good summer! And squeezing in some time for quilting!!

More on Monday

More finished projects to show you that is :-)  Saturday we woke to rain so it was a good day to work on more bindings from the pile I showed you last week. And it cleared up by mid afternoon to be able to take their pic's outside.  And the evening brought some wonderful fireworks from a local small town festival. The kind of fireworks where there are several going off at one time with a huge grand finale.

But wait there's more finishes for last week. I got a bug on Sunday to cut out some purses, managed to get 5 ready for quilting and assembly on Monday and Tuesday and before lunch on Wednesday I had these all finished. And I already sold one!  This is from a pattern I designed for myself, however over the last 5 years I have been asked many times if the pattern was for purchase, not at this time, but who knows maybe some day!
But it wasn't all sewing this weekend, yesterday I enjoyed the day canoeing with my hubby, and in the evening we went to a free country music concert here in town. Maggie Rose was playing.
Thanks for checking out my blog-gotta get going on more of those bindings and more quilting to get done.

Maniac Monday!

I am quilting like a maniac today! This past week I got a letter saying a craft sale was coming back to town this fall after they took last year off, so I guess I need to really get in gear and get stuff made!  I have been traveling a bit this past month...2 quilt shows, Country Fest, and a trip to our son's, so now I am ready to settle in and get a bunch of sewing done. So perhaps you might even see a few more blog posts in the future!
Yesterday I cut out 5 purses and this morning I sewed panels together to make the fronts and backs of them, then started quilting them on my longarm.  But also on the agenda for the week is to continue with binding all these table runners-I managed to get 4 bound last week before we took off up north to visit our son and DIL for the Fourth of July.

We went to a couple State Parks and this waterfall pic was from Temperance River State Park in Northern MN. It was so beautiful up there and lots of trails to hike. Had a good time going there with the kids :-)
And look at these cuties in my back yard this morning. We have had 3 different sets of fawns this year, pretty fun to watch until they eat my flowers! Twice now in the last couple weeks my roses were just opening and pop, the darn deer ate them right off, grrrr.  And I had even sprayed them really good with liquid fence!
