Friday triangles

I just cut out a bunch of triangles for Paula's Triangle QAL. I decided to do 2 smaller quilts-for one I am using the 60 deg. equilateral triangle and the other I am using a Quilt in a day Isosceles triangle. This is the week of cutting, next week we start piecing. Fun times ahead!!

Dollies on Parade

A few months ago I sewed up these cute 18" doll dresses. However I didn't finish up the outfits with the acccessories or velcro closures so that is how I spent my day yesterday. I have 18 outfits ready to sell now at the spring shows. It always feels so good to get some supply in those boxes! Don't they just wannta make you be a little girl again and play dress up, LOL

See the linky parties on the left side bar that I try to join each week. It is so fun to see what others are making and this is a good way to do it!
I see my baby quilt from last week is featured here today-thanks Connie!!

Adding onto this post of a WIP project I worked on yesterday with a friend. My quilt is on the left, her's on the right. We had fun doing this improv log cabin from Jacquie Gering's book Quilting Modern. All the brights are from my strip bag and it was overflowing so I thought she should help me use some. I had previously asked her if she felt brave enough to do a mystery baby quilt with me, all she had to bring was 1.5 yards of white fabric and I'd provide the rest. She was all in right away!  They came out 36" sq. I'll be donating mine to the neonatal unit after I get it quilted. The technique was fun and freeing and I know I will use it again.

Seven Purses done!

On Friday I finished the last of this batch of seven purses. I needed some spring or just everyday type for the craft show in May so this is what I came up with. They have 11 pockets total, 3 outside and 8 inside so no excuse for not being organized! I love putting in the magnetic closures to keep all your possessions inside. There is a covered foam core board in the bottom.  Next projects up are doll clothes that need their velcro, buttons or other embellishments added.

See the linky parties on the left side bar that'll I be linking up to. Be sure to stop by and party with us! I see Marelize at Stitch by Stitch has featured my quilts from last week, thanks Marelize!

Here a triangle, there a triangle, everywhere a triangle!

Yep I am joining in on the Triangle Quilt Along over at Paula's as if I don't have enough to do :-)  BUT this sounds like fun! I decided I would make 2 smaller quilts that I could used for donation quilts for our local Neonatal when I am done. So I picked some nice brights-my inspiration for picking the colors came from the turtle fabric, which might end up as a border on them, we'll see.  This is week one which means we were to pick, press and post our fabrics.

Where does the weekend go!

Doesn't seem like it should be Monday already! I had these two baby quilts done before the weekend but never got time to post them.

Dwirling from the Pajama Quilter DVD on the white/teal quilt. I used the leftovers for a scrappy binding-love how it turned out!  A quick freemotion design on the green one.
The teal white quilt is from a Villa Rosa pattern, you know those cute little laminated cards. Love a lot of her patterns. They are quick and easy.
The little green quilt is  a charm pack one that I just whipped up in EQ.

And the work in progress for the week is...7 purses!!  Here are parts for a purple one. I just quilted up the fronts, backs and linings and now onto the final assembly process. I designed my own pattern for these. I have one currently in my Etsy shop. The ones I am making now will be heading to a craft show in May and if there are leftovers I am going to put them in Etsy. Stay tuned for next week when I should have a post of the finishes :-)
Don't forget to check out the linky parties(see left side bar) this week for more wonderful projects!!

WIP Wednesday

Just a quick post this morning. I loaded this baby quilt on the frame this morning and will get to quilting it as soon as I get home from doing errands. Think I will do a dwirling freemotion design from The Pajama Quilter DVD, have not done this in a while so will be fun to play again. There sits my glide mint green that I will use on top.
I am continuing to fill my craft show boxes with some patriotic runners. This runner was inpired by this quilt   I then mocked my version up in EQ.

And this wall hanging is made using a 4.5" tumbler template. Orginally I was going for a table runner but with this size tumber it was too wide for my liking of 18". Next time I will use the 4" or maybe the 3.5" tumbler. but I think it made a very cute wall hanging.  The inspiration for it came from this flag quilt

It's WIP over at Freshly Pieced today so stop over for tons of
beauties.

Modern Monday

I have two modern projects I recently finished for our home. First up is this strip quilt which now hangs in our family room. I recently took down the country wallpaper border and chair rail and repainted in a light beige gray. So of course it had to have a new quilt wall hanging :-)  I modified the pattern to fit my quilt rack. The pattern is in a book called Modern Minimal by Alissa Haight Carlton.  An all solid quilt for me with lots of fun quilting designs which I did on my Nolting Funquilter :-) I used Glide thread on top and SoFine in the bobbin with Hobbs 80/20 batting.  My quilting designs are from Jodi's book Modern Simplicity, Judi's blog and various other pictures I have seen on the net.  Click on the pic's to enlarge if you want to see really close up!

And over the weekend I got these 4 placemats quilted and bound. I have had them pieced for close to a year and it was a free pattern.  I had fun with these designs too, I know it is crazy to quilt a placemat so much but hey did I mention it was fun, LOL  And just look how great it looks with my dishes-Yikes I love it!!  I have four more I want to do up soon too, but first a customer quilt needs quilting today.
The designs for these were from the same sources I mentioned above.
Stay tuned for tomorrow's post of patriotic quilting!

WIP, a finish and a card

Wednesday already-where does the time go, oh yeah time flys when you are having fun!!   I have been away from my card/paper crafting for a couple months now and I think it is time to play again :-)  This week for the DRS card challenge the theme is 'button up', we must use buttons somewhere on the card. Here is my entry for the challenge. White cardstock, designer paper, colored cardstock, die cut buttons and of course the cute little giraffe from a DRS stamp(just love this little guy).

And my WIP for today is actually 2 projects. I am working on 2 table runners in patriotic colors. I better get a move on and get the rest of those fabrics cut-stop back next week for a viewing of the finishes(I hope).

And for the finish I quilted this quilt made by a friend of mine.

A binding weekend!

First off thank you to everyone who commments on my blog and thank you for the well wishes of a health concern in our house. We still don't have all the test results, that comes next week. Yup the waiting game can be nerve wrecking.  If you don't hear from me you probably are a no reply blogger, but know that I read and appreciate every comment.
I am so happy to say I have caught up on my bindings over the weekend! A friend asked me last Friday if I had ever tried any of the fabrics from Connecting Threads and that is what prompted me to get this one out of the closet and onto the frame.  I scored it a few years ago for only $38 on their clearance page-lap size. I added the 2 borders and binding from my stash fabrics.

A close up of the free motion design from a Patsy Thompson video on the interior of the quilt and a piano key in the border.  And  here it is in our living room. I will be keeping this one :-)   Our quilt guild is having a 2014 UFO challenge where we are to list our UFO's that we would like to complete this year and if we complete them and show them at our December meeting we get 1 chance to win a $100 prize for each completion we show. This is actually #2 for me as I already finished this rectangle quilt last month.  I have to decided very soon how many to enter into the challenge!

Chevrons for Neonatal donation.  I love the look of chevrons and love to work with bright colors for the precious little babies that will receive the quilts and be wrapped in quilty hugs.  Notice the quilt underneath-that is what happens when you don't pay closer attention to orientation of the blocks-but I will think of it as a happy accident :-)

See the linky parties on my left side bar that I join in on.  And if you haven't been to them-you just have to go check out the fantastic projects everyone is working on!
