Caution-curves ahead

It's Curvalicious month at Island Batik for us ambassadors.  So I have been working on my curves-well not 'mine' but my project!!  While I don't do a lot with curve sewing, I have done some and enjoyed it. So heck yes I am up for the challenge:)

I chose to use a blenders bundle from a new line they released at Spring Market called Olivera which you should be able to find in quilt shops this fall.  There are so many different curve rulers and patterns out there.  At first I thought I would use my Quick Curve ruler and then I found this pattern called Lemon Slices at Annie's on sale for only $1 and it looked fun and different.  I love the curved ends!

A little close up so you can see the wonderful fall colors in these blenders.  Superior Threads Fantistico  #5061, which is variegated greens, was my thread of choice for quilting.  Aurifil was used in the piecing.

From another angle.

Next month we are challenged to make a baby quilt-fun!!!  And I started it yesterday:)

It's always fun to see how someone else interprets the challenge.  You can find out by checking out their blogs.

  1. Very nice piece! I stay away from curves as I've heard they can be dangerous :)

  3. That's fun, Vicki! I was always afraid to try curved piecing until I actually tried it, and it was easy! Now I want to do some more. I love the shape you used in this table runner, and of course your quilting is always wonderful!

  5. I haven't sewn curves in years. My one and only curved project made it into a quilt book, to show that you could use her template without using one of the patterns. Nice table runner. I have baby quilts in my future, too.

  9. Oh that is REALLY unique, Vicki...you need to make at least one more for your Etsy store so you can keep one for yourself. Really neat idea & very different.
I like how you quilted it, too.

  14. What a cool shape! A really nice change of pace from the standard rectangular table runners. The autumnal batiks are yummy :)

I agree with Doreen that this pattern would be super for Christmas, too. The gentle curve would mimic a poinsettia leaf.
