Delectable Mountains plus...

A delectable mountain table runner is a pretty fast gratification to wiggle into the middle of a bigger project. I use Bonnie Hunter's Scrappy Mountain Majesty tutorial for it.

You cut strips and then blocks, sew and cut etc, I had extra blocks so I decided to make a small mat with the leftovers this time. I am pretty sure I have some of the dark fabric left and will hunt it down and add a border to make it a useful size.

Same thing happened with this color batik set.

Here comes the plus part in the title of this post. I finished the sashings of this leaf lap quilt. I will add a gold print border before it gets to my longarm.

An update on my slipper knitting for this winter season.  This is my evening TV viewing project, they will become donations to those in need. I am using a 4ply red heart yarn with a strand of sport weight. The pattern is a freebie from Fave Crafts.

We were going to be out boondocking for two weeks and with the heat we canceled it for now so there should be lots of sewing time with the AC on!

  1. Awesome slippers that will be appreciated. Delectable Mountains is always a beauty no matter what color I've seen it in. But batiks are stunning. The cornerstones in the leaf quilt really make a visual statement don't they? Really pretty!

  3. That block makes a great tablerunner, the way you have it laid out, Vicki! I've never tried that block, but I'm going to have plenty of fall color batiks left after my SAHRR is done, so maybe that's what I'll do with them. Your maple leaves look so pretty with that sashing! And, wow on the knit slippers, too! Stay cool - we're supposed to have temperatures in the upper 80s next week. Very strange for March in Colorado.

  4. The maple leaf setting is great.....Why did I wait so many years to make Bonnie's mountains? In one season I made two. The left over blocks became placemats just last week. I think I hear the mountains calling again.....

  11. Love the Delectable Mountains runner! It's great when extra blocks can be used to make an additional piece. I did that once with a runner that was a gift and the mat was both quilt stitch practice and a keepsake mug rug of the project for me. Ooh, hope to see the border added to that maple leaf block center in the future -- great Fall quilt! How cute are those knitted slippers?!? Great charity project and perfect "busy hands" work for TV watching.

  14. I like the leaves especially the little 9 patches. The table runners look great. I'm betting they'll be hitting the Etsy shop as soon as they are done. Could you send us a bit of warmth? We're back in the low 30s at night. But we did make it through the rotten weather with no problems.
