Making strip sets has been my focus for the last few days. First cutting a bunch of strips of neutral and this black which has little gold circles. Then sewing into long strips and then the sub cutting began.
Oh I forgot to say these are for the leaf quilt. Here is what is going on with the strip sets. Still a ways to go but I am loving it!
For some slow stitching time I started a new little cross stitch. You are asking why I started another new something? So I will be joining in with Slow Sunday Stitching.
That's because I actually finished two in the last two weeks!! So I kinda thought I deserved to start a new one, LOL. Once again I used colored pencils to make a grayish aida cloth. I 'think' I used my Derwent water color ones. White embroidery floss didn't show up very good while doing the snowman so I outlined it with a metallic looking blue gray. Then instead of stitching snowflakes on the top I used snowflake buttons I had on hand. I also added three snowflake buttons to the green polka dot fabric. This finished up at 9" wide and 6" tall. I don't consider this late for the season, I am ahead for next winter;)
This one I got done on time for this upcoming St. Patty's Day. He's about 6" square. Both of these were monthly freebies from Primrose Cottage Designs.
Here it is with my little shamrock wall hanging.

Your strips and 9 patches are a great sashing for the leaves, Vicki! Love that look. And, of course you deserved to start a new cross-stitch project! Winter Wonderland is cute with those snowflake buttons, and so is the St. Patrick's Day stitch. I finished stitching my Leprechaun last night - going to finish him up this afternoon!
ReplyDeletenice when you can do strip sets and not squares that were already cut out for the nine patch
ReplyDeleteLovely projects and finishes! I love the autumn leaf quilt top that is going to be beautiful! Our weather cooled here a bit. I hope it calmed down for you too!
ReplyDeleteI thought your leaves were pretty before but now they are "Wow"! Those checkerboard cornerstones are beautiful. I love your buttons on the cross stitch, and it is such a good idea to outline the white on a cross stitch piece. It just adds a nice finish to it. Your cross stitch and shamrock hanging are so cute. I love the greens together. Hope you are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI’m super curious about how you use colored pencils to get the fabric color you want. I have tons of white Aida I’d love to use up but I love the colored fabrics and how they enhance the cross stitch designs! Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou are a no reply and I have no email addy for you. Maybe you will check back and see the reply. I spritz the aida cloth a little and lightly go over it with the colored Derwent pencils until I get the desired color.
DeleteGreat finishes and a wonderful reward!
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes!
ReplyDeleteThe mini pillows are so cute! I also love the border that you are doing on the leaf quilt.
ReplyDeleteSuch cute little projects!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful way to set those leaves!!!
ReplyDeleteYour stitched pieces are super cute. I'm so jealous at how far ahead you are for next winter's decor.
ReplyDeleteYou are zipping right along, as usual! The sashing for the leaves looks great, and of course I love the cross stitcheries!
ReplyDeleteCute little cross stitch finishes. I'm a great starter but a slow finisher! You are definitely a great finisher! Were your leaves (I noted from the next post, yes, I'm reading backwards!) from a die? It really looks great.
