Yes I am back to my regular sewing/quilting room and it's now time to kick it in gear and finish things. It's getting to be Patriotic season so I need to add items to the shop. First up is a round wedge topper which I pieced on Friday and quilted and bound it Saturday.
I thought maybe you would like to see it on the longarm with the quilting progress. I pin the backing fabric onto the longarm leaders and lay batting and the topper on that. Basting around the edges of the first half of the topper holds it in place. Do you see the large bar type magnets on the right side of the photo, they hold the unbasted top in place while I quilt the top half of it.
I bought a bolt of red/white print fabric from Marshall Dry Goods. I love this for backings for my red table runners. Buying a bolt from them is very inexpensive, but you do have to pay postage but it is still a very good price.

Sara inspired me with all the cleaning/sorting she has been doing so I cleaned up a little area that had leftover bindings scattered about. They are now all corralled up into one container. Just perhaps I will use some of them up. While in the process of that I uncovered some patriotic UFO runners. Putting borders on these didn't take long and they are now on the longarm getting their quilting treatment.

It's nice to have you "back"! Those are such pretty patriotic pieces for your shop - I bet they go fast. I like seeing your longarm process. I haven't started my America 250 quilt yet. We did buy a "patriotic" welcome mat for the front door though - lol!
ReplyDeleteI love your wedge topper, im sure it will be a happy addition to someone's celebration. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out about the binding!! That is about the only thing that feels organized some days in my space. Those round toppers are always a favorite, but the long ones are really pretty too, Great job!!
ReplyDeleteThose are some lovely patriotic pieces, Vicki. They won't last long in the shop.
ReplyDeleteAh, so that black bar is a magnet? So nice to hold the other half of the circle down!
ReplyDeleteI bet your patriotic runners will be popular in the shop this year! Interesting to see the round one on the long arm. But I especially love those interlocking squares - that was a good find!
ReplyDeletesometimes the bolts that you get are perfect for backings. Marshalls is about 2.5 hours from me and I've only been there once and it was a long time ago - I heard they changed it up a bit since that time so I might try it again now sometimes if I'm heading in that direction
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! This is a big patriotic year, being the 250th, so these will be very popular, I'm sure, Vicki!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are buzzing right along in this dreary, drippy weather! Welcome home!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to posting -- hopefully you'll get some beautiful projects done and share them with us on a regular basis again. I love seeing what you are working on. And, isn't that the cutest fabric you got from Marshalls. I try to use the majority of a bolt before I try/buy a new one. I'm trying to cut down on my fabric but I'm not making great progress. Thanks for showing how you load your circular topper. If I remember correctly you hand guy your long arm so I'm sure you get a wonderful custom design on it. And, I agree, these will be "flying" out of your house soon.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear you made it home safely , Vicki. The desert is still calling me, but I will have to wait a few months for another visit. Your patriotic table quilts are wonderful. I loved seeing the round one in the longarm. The large magnetic bar looks quite handy. Have a great week and enjoy your time in the quilt room. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! I'm sure you've been itching to get some of your pieced projects quilted. Your round toppers are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to your studio :-) The red, white and blue look festive. I'm really interested in your magnets holding the quilt top in place. I have had so much trouble poking my hands with those pins that I baste the backing onto zipper attachments and then baste the quilt top once I get it on. The magnets look like a time saver. Note: Google wasn't letting me sign in for some reason.
ReplyDeleteMarshall Dry Goods is the best! I get all of our veterans quilt supplies (backing and batting). I love your round table topper.
ReplyDeleteGreat finishes!! and just in time!! I like that table topper a lot!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty . . . I'm excited about so many bloggers stitching up creations with our 250th birthday in mind ♥️
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts as always 😃 I’ve always wondered how the circular designs were quilted - could you please share where you purchased your long magnet? Thanks - Beth in AL (bhambeth at gmail dot com)
ReplyDeleteI love that table topper, Vicki. I am amazed you were able to stitch it together in one day! I've never tried stitching a round quilt but I've been tempted to try...maybe later this summer! This one should sell quickly. Love the runners as well. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table toppers. I have yet to make one of your round ones. Maybe this summer. My school teaching schedule will be ending May 29. Counting down the days...
