DRS challenge #51-Snow Fun

Isn't this sparkly snowman cute!  Ok so not all snowman can get away with wearing purple perhaps but I think this one pulls it off well, LOL. I wish the sparkles showed up better, but at least the ribbon sparkles good. This little guy is a DRS stamp and this is for the DRS challenge this week. I colored him with the Bic markers and Prisma colored pencils, added sparkle to the tree and Let it snow sign.  The papers were in a pack I picked up, I think, at Michaels.

Snowman table runner

I just finished this table runner over the weekend. I saw the snowman on pintrest on a pillow and decided to draw up my own version and put one on each end of a table runner with stars in the middle. I used felt for the appliques. First I pieced my runner and stipple quilted it on my longarm and then appliqued the snowman and stars on using my Janome Horizon 7700
Here is my pieced back.

And here is a close up of the snowman-I used stitch #94 on the Horizon 7700 to applique the other edge of him and his nose, I tightened the top tension, black thread in bobbin and monofilament on top and it looks like hand stitching.
Adding button eyes and hand stitched X's for his mouth using black crochet thread and he is ready for winter!

DRS challenge #50-Turkey

Here is my turkey card for the DRS challenge this week. I used two shades of beige and a brown paper for the backgrounds. One of them I textured with my embossing folder. The turkey feathers are from my scallop Spellbinder die, and punces for his body. Another great challenge from the DRS team.

DRS challenge #49-candles

This week on the DRS blog the challenge is to make a card with candles on it. So using a candle stamp by DRS Designs I made this Christmas card. I cut an oval into the white cardstock using my oval Spellbinders die and embossed with holly leaves. Behind that is another white layer that I stamped the candle onto and colored it, I also sponged green distress ink around the outside of the oval.  Both of those layers are mounted onto red cardstock, embellished with green cardstock with stripe ribbon and a Merry Christmas sentiment. And last added a red organza bow. I love how it came out and I am one card closer to having my Chrsitmas cards made!

Knitting

I recently got a new pattern for machine knitting slippers from  Diane and had a chance the last couple days to try it out. So far I have only tried this easy  No Sew Lined Slipper. She has a few others in the book. This one really is easy and pretty quick. The nice thing about it is that when it comes off the machine it is done except to weave in 4 yarn tails! I plan on making a bunch to donate.

And this is what was in our front yard late yesterday afternoon! He was grazing alongside 4 other deer 20-30 feet from the house. Sometimes they are way closer to the house, like 6 feet away!

Batik table runner

I pieced this little batik table runner yesterday and quilted it up this morning and got it delivered this afternoon! It is a sample for a local fabric store. The pattern is called Starburst by D. Hall Designs, a very simple fast runner to make. I really had fun with the quilting on it as you can see :-)  trying to put a little modern spin on it. I used Glide on top, So Fine in the bobbin and Airtex 80/20 batting.
