It's no secret I love working with panels, sometimes choosing parts of one and parts of another to make something new.
For this wall hanging I chose the Autumn Greetings section first.
Next came the pinwheels which are 4" finished for each pinwheel, more orange sashing was added to the top and bottom of the pinwheel units.
That is when I searched through my panel parts to see if anything would look good with what I had so far. That yielded the leaves and acorns rectangle. I had to trim it a bit to fit. Next was putting these three parts together and surrounding it all with orange sashing.

Then came the gold/neutral squares, green border and finally the beautiful orange with metallic gold leave border. After quilting it I went in search of a binding that might coordinate as I didn't have enough of the orange leaf fabric for that. I might have squealed a little when I discovered the perfect stripe with metallic gold accent in just the right color in my stash!
The backing with the folded triangle hanging tabs. This piece was snatched up shortly after I listed it. That just means I need to move forward with another fall panel:)
My coneflowers are blooming nicely this year, this one was unique in it's downward petals that I thought he deserved a photo.
I love this - the colors are glorious! I can see why it was snatched up quickly. Your process of making it was so interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis wall-hanging might be my favorite one yet! I noticed the leaves and acorns section right away. Your coneflowers are fun to see! I never did get any to grow - will have to try again next year.
ReplyDeleteAutumn Blessings is so pretty, Vicki. I love the quilting. I'm not surprised it sold so quickly.
ReplyDeletefall wallhanging is really nice - and of course love the flower
ReplyDeleteI was channeling your fabric ideas a bit when I was pawing through a bunch of free fabric at a guild meeting last weekend. I pulled some white dots on red, some checks in two colors of blue, and some purple checks if I remember correctly. I also grabbed a bird panel that I hope I can do something with eventually. 25 yards later I am excited to have "new" fabric. I'm not surprised your fall wall hanging was snapped up quickly! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when you find the perfect fabrics for a piece? I had to smile when you squealed with delight. Autumn Blessings is gorgeous! Aaah and there is the Mini Pumpkin Sampler . Thank you for stitching it , Vicki. It looks so pretty on display with your quilt and pumpkins. Gorgeous coneflower too.
ReplyDeleteI can hear you squeal with delight over that binding - I would, too! It's perfect. Every time I see panels, I think of you :-) Those hanging tabs make the back almost as pretty as the front - what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYou do amazing work with the panels. <3 And I love your use of prairie points for the hanging sleeve. I am going to file that one in my memory bank for future use! Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteI love this piece - and appreciate learning the steps you took to put it all together! Do you have a tutorial on the hanging tabs on the back? I'd love to learn that!!
ReplyDeleteYour panel quilts are amazing, Vicki! I really love this one...and especially the hanging tabs on the back. Great job! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
