Ruler work

Here is what is on my Nolting longarm frame, started working on it yesterday. It is 30's prints but in a more modern setting with the diamonds and white sashings. And continuing the modern feel into the quilting of straight lines and a little curvy ribbon candy in the sashings. I hope to get to more quilting on it today, but first I have to get outside while it is still cool and paint a door frame at least two coats-shouldn't take long right? Then it will be time to water the grass seed again :-)

Sewing fun

These 3 runners are my accomplishments for the past 3 days. The one on the left is using Jenny's Quick Curve ruler -love using this!  The one on the right is using the Lemoyne ruler by Deb Tucker. I just picked up this ruler at the Minnesota state quilt show last week, I am amazed at how easy and precise it is, think I will be using this one a lot! I used the 8 inch finished size block for this one.
This Christmas table runner  is also using the Lemoyne ruler. I did these blocks using the 10 inch finished lines. I also pieced another table topper that I didn't get a picture of. It was a good day to stay inside with the AC on, very warm and humid out there. I hope to have another productive day tomorrow!

Leftovers runners

These runners are from a pattern from a book By Calico Printworks. I had so much fun coming up with different ways to quilt each one.
In all of the black sashings I used a ruller called Wiggle from Gadget Girls that I picked up while at MQS last month. Other designs are straight lines, U turn lines, ribbon candy and pebbles.

I really like how the center block came out on this one. I used Mindy Wylies swag ruler to make the oval part and then just stitched an echo of that in the center of the black. Inside the oval I stitched U turn lines. In the border I alternated the direction of the U turn lines.

Using a lot of the same lines but in a different way can make a big difference.
I made a little booboo on this one but it came out alright. I had completed the center block, love the look, went to eat dinner, came back and forgot which runner I was working on so the 2 outside blocks got a different treatment, LOL

Awesome inspiration!

I designed this table runner using the rug in our foyer as the inspiration. The black background is all one piece and then I appliqued on the solid colored squares, square rings and rectangle using the blanket stitch on my Janome Horizon 7700. The quilting on this was inpired by the class I took from Angela Walters while I was at MQS in Overland Park, KS in May and can also be found in her new book Free Motion Quilting.  Thanks again Angela!  It is so nice to have new designs that are so fun to quilt and even more fun to sit and look at!  I used Hobbs 80/20 batting and Glide thread.

Finally all purses done!

I finally got around to finishing the last 2 in the batch of 11 purses that I was working on in March. It feels so good to have them done and off my counter!  But there still are lots of other projects on the counters that are WIP's. So I better get to figuring out what I want to tackle next.
Each purse has 3 outside pockets and 8 inside pockets so they will keep you very organized!
Here is a pic of the inside of the same style purse made of different fiabrics. I always make the inside to coordinate nicely with the outside fabrics. Notice the magnetic snap(love those) and the bottom of each purse gets a covered board to keep it's shape.

Bracelet and Birthday

One of my other hobbies is beading, bracelets mainly. I found this one in Beth Stones book 'More Seed Bead Stitching'. It really turned out cute but it is a little wider than I like to wear so I might do another one someday and not do as many rounds. You assemble each triangle then stitch them to one another. It was a fun one to do.                          Today was my Birthday, it was supposed to be a sunny great weather day, well it turned to cloudy before noon and sprinkled a bit here and there. But my DH says he is hungry for BBQ ribs, sounds good to me till I got to thinking he wanted to go to AppleBees-oh no not again, no singing this time I told him, he acts all innocent. Five years ago we went to visit our DD, DSIL in Tennessee and they thought we should go to AppleBees for my BD and yep the waiters, waitresses all sing to you, I was totally unsuspecting and they got me good.  So today we get to Applebees and there is DD, DSIL and our grandson(13months old), I said oh no you don't...DH had already warned them to keep quiet. So we had a yummy lunch and no singing!    So it was a good day.
