Triangle quilt along finish!

This is the last week to link up to the Triangle Quilt Along over at Sassy Quilter. Yesterday I quilted and bound my first quilt which is baby size 36" sq.  I wanted to keep the quilting simpler but freehand in the center so I did a design from Pajama Quilter called Dwirling. A little ruler work in the checkerboard and white borders. The thread I used was YLI variegated which I had never used before-it played well with a prewound magna-glide bobbin. I really enjoyed making this one and very happy with how it turned out. And look at the cute stripe backing that I just happened to have in my stash, LOL.  Love that orange dot for the binding.

Here is the second baby size 36" triangle quilt I did for the Triangle Quilt Along.  I just finished quilting and binding this one this morning!  This is a much simpler and quicker one to do, but still fun! I love working with the bright colors for the babies. Keeping softness in mind I quilted a water freehand design on my longarm with the same YLI variegated thread. I was going to do a different design on it and then when I got it pinned on the frame I decided the turtles needed water to swim in :-)  The binding is the turtle fabric also, and I had to use the cute polka dots for the backing. I will be donating these 2 quilts to our local Neonatal unit.

Thank you Paula for hosting this fun event. Be sure to go check out all the other triangle quilt finished too. I am on my way over there now to link up and check them out :-)

  8. I love the bright colours, they are so full of life and fun. The quilting on the first quilt seems to create the effect of movement, I had to look more than once to realise the additional tone in the fabric was due to the quilting and not part of the fabric print. They are both beautiful.
