My Creative Goodness today is this improv chevron that I have been working on here and there. I started it in January, I think, and just work on it occasionally when I need a few mindless sewing minutes. But Thursday I had a friend over so I could share the technique with her, she caught on quickly and enjoyed it too! The technique is from Tall Prairie Grass, she has a tutorial on it here. I took it a step farther and made it bigger for a quilt instead of just a block of it. Same idea only on a larger scale. I am planning on putting a solid white or gray sashing between the columns of chevrons to calm it down a bit :-) It really is a fun free technique to try with your scraps! Yes these are all scrappy strips left from other projects. I think I might make another column yet.
Hope you all have a great weekend, with some quilting time in there but don't forget to enjoy the warmer weather(we've been waiting several months for a day like today!)

I love those types of quilt with riots of colour. The sashing will really set it off. Must look at this tutorial.
ReplyDeleteLove the scrappy! This will be so cute.
ReplyDeleteVery cool strips. The grey will be a nice division between the rows of color.
ReplyDeleteThese are great!! Black sashing. . . or dark gray. Why tone it down now??! :D
ReplyDeleteLove the bright colors and the scrapiness. Thanks for linking the tutorial.
ReplyDeleteVery cheery columns - thanks for sharing them, and the tutorial. I've gotta follow along to see how this one turns out.
