So what is my scrappy one for today... I was inspired by one I saw in a Schnibbles book in our local guild library. I used my own dimension's for it. What I did was just cut my strings into 6" lengths, I used any width that they were, then sewed them all together in long columns. I made 4 patches and set them on point with tan triangles making columns of these to put between the strippy columns. So the only purchased fabric was the tan, the rest is all from the scrap bins-yes I said bins, just being honest, haha. It's all quilted and bound and ready for donation. I kept the quilting simple with just a larger meander as the quilt is busy enough by itself. This was pieced early in 2015.
Linking to Oh Scrap today! I am hoping for a very quilty week. With the cold temps that have set in now, this week is a good week to stay home and work like crazy!
What a great use for strings. I have a large bin of them. I was going to make a string quilt, but they are not my favorite. Your quilt looks more like something I would make.
ReplyDeleteTerrific use of scraps! Isn't it amazing what you can do with a handful of fabric and a creative eye?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful and such a simple pattern. I need to remember this because I too have plenty of scraps. Blessings, Gretchen
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! It is great to see you using all those scraps and creating a beautiful quilt. I sewed with friends and brought home a bunch more scraps yesterday. I cannot let them end up in the trash either. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quilt, the recipient will treasure it I have just to pinned it to the Scraps quilts.
ReplyDeleteNice scrappy quilt and I especially like the jewel tone darks in the strings playing against the light tans and 4-patches!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I was just wishing for more scraps. Call me crazy!
ReplyDeleteGreat scrap buster! Though it is hard to keep up with scraps, it would still be sad if they were ever all gone.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really lovely guilt to be made of scraps. It all goes together beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to make a fantastic! scrappy quilt!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful scrap quilt!
ReplyDeleteGreat scrap quilt! I love the design. I need to do something with my scraps. Right now they are in a big black trash bag... not too conducive to using in quilts. I'm too impatient to organize them!
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a "winner".......I really must do something similar to start using up my smaller pieces!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quilt. I've never done a strip quilt before -- not sure I could keep those edges straight for such long pieces. Maybe one of these days.
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at scrap quilts like these I always wonder what quilt blocks/quilts were made with the original pieces that created the scraps. In my home, scraps just seem to accumulate without my knowing exactly where they came from.
Thanks for sharing your gorgeous quilt.

Pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great result! And some people put scraps in the actual bin! Look what they are missing. Thank you for linking up to #scraptastictuesday
ReplyDeleteGreat pattern to use up scraps! Funny how they keep multiplying...
ReplyDeleteI jumped here from Scraptastic Tuesday because the photo was irresistible. Great job!
Love that traditional look on this one.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty quilt! I can't throw scraps away either, and they multiply in my sewing room.
ReplyDeleteLanded here because of the photo. Really beautiful. Love the colours of your 4-patches.
