Camper closet organizer

Before we left on our month's long vacation, I knew I needed more organization in my clothes closet in the camper. I decided to make a custom size cloth organizer much like the purchased shoe holders.
I, however, did not use it for shoes, it held my socks and underwear. It was perfect for that!! And I used some of the $1 yd fabric I bought last spring from an estate sale. I layered the backing, batting and front piece and quilted it. Then I added the pockets and bound it. I made a casing at the top and we inserted a piece of wood into the casing and screwed it to the door.

I had a purchased regular size shoe organizer to use as a guide for the pocket sizes.  Usually you see them with clear pockets, in this case I did not want the contents to be seen;-)  Interfacing was used between the 2 layers of fabric for the pocket.  Then the raw edge encased with the strip of bias tape I had made on the cross grain of fabric.

In case you are wondering what that black thing on the wall behind the door is, it is a sun/light block out deal you put on your car windshield!  It works perfect to put it between the shade and the window make our bedroom dark so we're not up before sunrise!

Several of you said you would like to see more pictures of our vacation...

Colorado Rocky Mts.

The view every evening from our camper in Moab, Utah.

Red Rock formations are all over in Moab, Utah. This particular one was found in the Needles District of Canyonland Park.

We rented a jeep to drive the very scary high up switchback road of Shaffer trail and part of the White Rim trail in  Canyonland Park.

That's all for today!

  3. What a great idea for the organizer. I may have to borrow your idea as we live in our 5th wheel full-time. Beautiful pictures from your vacation. We hope to do some of the parks in Utah this fall.

  4. Great snazzy organizer! Beautiful photos, Vicki; your description of the Jeep ride up the switchbacks makes me think of some of our camping treks in Jasper, and in the foothills of the Rockies in Alberta. Also one CRAZY ride up the side of a mountain in BC pulling a trailer one time. Not for the faint of heart!

  8. Great organiser idea and scenery. Our son was recently in Utah (Mexican Hat) but I don't think the organiser would fit in his station wagon!
