Holiday Happenings in July-Island Batik

July has us Island Batik Ambassadors working on a Holiday project. Not a problem for me as I love making Christmas table runners. I worked with the Holiday Happenings line from Island Batik. Here are my strip sets all cut way back in June.

They traveled 4000 miles with me on vacation. I had packed my sewing machine and a few projects and this was the first one I worked on. Of course after the piecing I had to wait until we returned home to quilt it as I quilt everything on my Nolting long arm.  Aren't those fabrics just gorgeous!

If you are a follower of my blog you have seen me make round wedge toppers before. I have a tutorial of how I did mine here.  Or you can find it under the Tutorial page on the tab at the top of my blog.

All finished and on display for pictures on my patio table in July, now that was a bit out of place, LOL

Working with Island Batik's on this wedge topper was wonderful. As you know Batik fabrics don't have a lot of stretch so this topper presented no problems in laying nice and flat.

If your local shop doesn't carry Island Batik fabrics be sure to ask them to!

  1. Beautiful finish, Vicki. The green, red, and yellow batik is perfect for a Christmas project. I'm not sure my first thought would have been to pull batiks if I was working on a Christmas project...you have opened my eyes.

  6. That's just I want to make is a round table topper for our table. I made one of chile peppers, but I wanted one to change out the chile pepper one with sometimes. Thanks for the tutorial, although I don't think I have that long of a wedge ruler, but I will check, because you never know.

  8. Nice topper -- I would love to make one but I have lost my long wedge ruler. Perhaps it will show up again at some point and then I can play with this. Your Christmas one is gorgeous. Those batiks really shine.
