First, I had a customer request a cherry table runner last week and I managed to get it done and in the mail already. As I was working on it I realized I never posted the original one. They are identical in every way.
The cherry block came from Podunk Pretties, but I did resize the block so it would fit the size table runner I wanted.
As I was working on the runner I looked out my window and saw a young buck curled up in the back yard right by our ferns. You can see how close he was as in the upper left corner of the pic you see the corner of our deck. I grabbed my camera really quick to get a photo. You can see his little velvet antlers. He laid there about half an hour and then he moved back into the middle of the ferns. I didn't really want him laying in there, but if I opened the door to shoo him away I figure he could potentially do more harm jumping around trying to get out of there so I left him alone.
The celebrating part was our daughter and our grandsons came over yesterday to help celebrate my birthday!
And now it's time to figure out what I need to work on this week. What are you choosing to work on, whether it is just because you want to or something you have a deadline for, I want to hear!
Since things are messed up with blogger and we aren't getting the email addy's from our commentors, please know that I am still reading all comments and will respond if I have your email address. As always I do appreciate your comments. I love keeping in touch with blog friends so I hope they get it fixed soon.
Will blogger hurry and get this fixed!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Vicki! Your cards are adorable. I haven't made cards in years and it was fun back then. Looking forward to seeing what comes out of your corner this week. Have a great one!
ReplyDeleteOur Blogger issue is driving me nuts too! I've never felt so disconnected :( The simple quilting you chose for the cherry table runner is beautiful and sets it off nicely. If it is warming up there like it is here, I can't say I blame your deer friend for bedding down in the cool shade of those ferns. And happy belated birthday!!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Vicki! What a great bunch to celebrate with. Love your table runner. And that deer is a beauty. Each one of those cards looks like a mini quilt.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki!! Happy Happy Birthday! This is a good month for birthdays for me - lots of people I love and enjoy have HBs this month like my sister and bestie, and I'm thrilled to include you in the group. You are in good company - haha! I love this cherry table runner. I knew it was your second one but I couldn't imagine what it looked like. It turned out great and I'm sure your customer is just thrilled. WOW that buck was close. I just have to wonder why he wanted to rest right there?! I'm glad you had some time with your peeps for your birthday - that is fabulous. Happy Monday! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteI love those cards! I have been thinking about having a card night with my friends and making a bunch. I know that would be so fun! I am working on another pattern and taking another week off school for the kids. Taking it slow and easy this week!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! So nice that you were able to celebrate with your daughter and grandsons. That is a nice picture of you and the boys.
ReplyDeleteDo you get deer in your yard like that very often? That would be exciting.
Love the cherry table runner and you made some really cute cards. What is your favorite adhesive? I'm just getting back into scrapbooking and I've made a couple of cards.
Happy Birthday Vicki! You have been busy! I am always busy with so many projects going at once. I have been working on a quilt a friend and I started over a year ago.We wanted to get together and each of us work on the same quilt pattern, making ours using up our scraps. Life got in her way and we only met that one day until last week when we finally got together to work on our quilts together again. So now I am sewing the blocks. Then there will be applique in every block and border.

Happy Birthday once more! I love the cherry table runner. The little circles in the cherries are so fun! Looks like you had a great birthday (did you get your biking in?) -- how could it not be with those two little cuties!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Vicki! Love the cherry table runner, and the photo of the deer in your ferns (wow, are they ever green and lush!), but especially the one of you and the grandsons! Hope you had a great time with them.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! How fun that you got to celebrate with those handsome boys :) Now I want cake and ice cream, very hard to come by here. We've been settling for Jello pudding for months, LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour cherry runner is super cute. The gingham inner border is just the right "old fashioned" touch. This week I'm going to tackle quilting up one of my charity pieces for Quilts Beyond Borders. I've got it sandwiched and sitting near my machine, but the weather got extra hot and humid so the thought of that thing resting on my lap just makes me wilt!
