A little of this and a little of that

The first project is no longer a UFO.  I started the pumpkin blocks while on our Paducah/Memphis trip back in April.  I think I pieced the top in May and then it sat in the closet waiting it's turn for quilting.  Now I am in the process of finishing all the runner/wall hanging tops so that I can to get them out to the craft shows.  This one got quilted on Wednesday.  I do have another identical one to try to get done yet.   It is a Cottage Rose pattern.

The first batch of machine knitted cotton dishcloths are packaged and ready for the next show.  I have been knitting each morning for the last couple weeks in order to get this many.  Aren't they pretty!  There are 48 sets stacked here.

They are packaged in sets of 3 and tied with raffia and a silk leaf.  I learned the packaging trick from another machine knitter years ago at a seminar.

We were getting ready to go out to dinner Friday night and we look out the window to see these 3 bucks!  We get deer on almost a daily bases but not usually 3 bucks at once.  I ran for the camera and took a ton of pics to sort out the good ones.  They were about 60 feet from the house here by our apple and spruce trees.  Butting horns.

Then they came closer to the house, about 20 feet or less from our front porch.  Notice the green grass here yet.  This morning it had some white stuff mixed in, and I don't mean frost...we woke up to it snowing!!!!!!!!!!!!  My deck is all white, grrrr we are not ready nor wanting it yet.  I still have bulbs to dig and patio furniture to put away.

Some of you were asking how the first craft show was going this past week.  It finished up last night. I worked a 3 hour shift yesterday afternoon so I could be there to find my stuff easier and pick it up and bring it home.  The show was down as an over all , several of us vendors were not so happy this year.  Of course we don't know why the people weren't coming like previous years.  But for once I am not letting it bother me too much as I have 2 shows going at the same time in the very near future.  Today I will divide what I had leftover and deliver to one of the shows on Tuesday.  This show runs for 4 long weekends of Thursday thru Sundays.

  1. I love your little pumpkins, Vicki! Someone's going to snap that up right away! Fun idea for wrapping up your dishcloths, too. What a neat sight of those bucks fighting. Is there a herd of females somewhere nearby that they are fighting over? We woke up to about 4 inches of snow this morning! I'm not ready for it yet either...

  2. I like how you work on the knitting machine in the morning only. Smart lady! I hope your next two shows go better than this first one.

  5. Your little dishcloth bundles are so cute. I recognize that pumpkin pattern too. Cool that those bucks came that close to the house. You got some good pictures. Our snow is gone over here, except for a little bit on the deck, which won't last the day I think.

  6. Cute quilt and quilting! The dishcloths are packaged so neat. And those bucks! Oh, you reminded me--got to put that patio furniture away!!! Yes, we had snow here yesterday, too. Those leaves are suppose to come down first!?!

  7. I hope your other shows are better for you. I still have a month before mine start. Those knit dishcloths are pretty. I knit by hand, so it would take forever to get that many made. I like the pumpkins too!

  8. Good Morning! I'm sorry the craft fair wasn't better for you as far as sales. You just never know about them, but hopefully the next one will be much better. Maybe people weren't in the shopping mood yet but with a little touch of snow that could be the game changer! You'd think those bucks might get stuck that way! Reminds me of puppies playing. ~smile~ Roseanne

  10. The dishcloths are very appealing. I'm sorry about the one show, but with two others coming up, there's hope to recoup. Snow! I'm not ready, either! I hope it reminds people that Christmas is only 71 days away, though. =)

  11. Such great pictures of your visitors! And I'm sorry to hear there's snow already - this seems pretty early, but nature will do what it wants. Hope the next two shows go better. I know you've put in a ton of time and effort.

  12. The deer photos are amazing. That is a pretty exciting site to see outside of your own window. Hope you find better success with the next craft show.

  13. I tried to find some craft boutique shows in this area, and can't find any. We saw lots of deer in Arkansas (mainly running in front of my car). Good luck with the other craft shows.

  14. Well, Vicki, what do you think? The pumpkins are a seasonal item. You may have started them in April - they are not going to ripen until after the Equinox. And I am glad they took that much time. I'd hate to eat an unripe pumpkin. These look yummy and juicy :-) Perfect for fall and Halloween.

  15. The pumpkin quilt turned out beautifully and should do really well at one of the shows. Hope the rest of the show season is better than the first one.
