The first squirrel of the month was in the form of dragonflies that you can see HERE.
These are squirrel number two.
They were so fun to make and then enter squirrel number three saying 'you gotta make round patriotic placemats to go with the patriotic table runners'. Sure why not I thought!
And in walks squirrel number four, geesh my brain is working overtime, LOL. The wedges in the round placemats made me think of citrus fruits and we happened to be eating oranges lately. So you following me here...hmmm why not make citrus placemats and make them oval and have the fruit wedges at one end.
I pieced the white and print together, quilted them and then appliqued on the lemon wedges. The perfect backing from the stash;)
All ready for a summer picnic! That is if the squirrels stay away long enough. They are already looking in my window and whispering limes and oranges. And maybe, just maybe, the oranges will get made yet this month. I have begun listing these in my Etsy shop.
I hope you have enjoyed my DrEAMi squirrel adventures this month! Hope you have a fabulous weekend.
really like all of those - I saw Wendy's on her blog but controlled myself :)
ReplyDeleteOkay I think I just took Wendy's Grand Poobah of Squirrels title away and gave it to YOU this month! You have to link up the first squirrels too ya know! Squirrels are like rabbits: they breed like CRAZY! These are all fabulous, terrific idea for the citrus ones too! Bet they're selling like hotcakes. Thank you for linking up!
ReplyDeleteOh, cute! You had such fun ideas, Vicki! I really like the first with the plates that match.
ReplyDeleteThese are a perfect addition to your shop!
ReplyDeleteLove the citrus placemats!
ReplyDeleteHoly Moly Vicki!! First of all, these are all CUTE with a big capital c.u.t.e. And where the heck did you get such cute plates?!! I just adore the polka dot ones, and the gingham checked on is just perfect for a picnic. Anyhoo - back to quilting. The citrus-inspired mat is just adorbs and reminds me of a lemon. These are all so stinky fun I can't stand it. Boom! ~smile~ Roseanne P.S. Going shopping for some cute plates now!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the watermelon!! Hahahaha. I have some other ideas too. So glad I sent those little squirrels to your quilt room; I have plenty here, and it's good to share!
ReplyDeleteI was tempted by Wendy's place mats, too! But clearly the squirrel virus got ahold of you and wouldn't let go. These are so great and very eye catching. They are going to FLY out of your store!
ReplyDeleteWell, they must have been good squirrels :-) Your placemats are all wonderful! Creative and inspiring! and I would follow the parade but I'm finally getting to a t shirt quilt I need to make fast. But maybe after that...
ReplyDeleteOh these are the best squirrels ever! That lemon wedge . . . oh my! What a great idea to make matching placemats. I bet they sell quickly!
ReplyDeleteThose squirrels led you on a grand adventure. LOVE all of your DrEAMI projects!!
ReplyDeleteYou and Wendy and Sandra and the squirrels have been quite busy. Hoping June affords me some squirrel time...now what should it be???
ReplyDeleteI love every one of your spontaneous projects. That feeling, when you do WHAT you want to do WHEN you want to do it gives such great satisfaction. Especially when you complete it! My squirrels are burp cloths and pillowcases and Moda designer Stacy Hsu dolls. I also like that you photograph your completed projects as if in use with dishes, etc. Who cannot adore red and white and blue today, Memorial Day?
ReplyDeleteSuch cute squirrels!
ReplyDeleteMaking citrus coasters has been on my 'to do' list for several years now. Maybe I'll make some placemats to go with them.
