Who doesn't love a good nine patch set off with sashings. The navy polka dot and white cornerstones did the job perfectly.
I fell so fortunate when friends give me things they no longer feel they will use. In this case the backing is a pretty pink fleece which my friend gave me. I assured her I would use it for a donation quilt. Don't you just love the texture that quilting on fleece gives. A pretty pink thread topped it all off nicely.
This is a quilt I will donate locally in honor of Hands 2 Help hosted by Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.
Great baby quilt. Fast and fun is awesome at times, for sure. Love your quilting and how it shows up so nicely on the fleece backing.
ReplyDeleteThat's a pretty one, with those bright pops of pink. I love fleece for backing. It makes the quilt so cuddly.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki! I love this simple setting of these charm squares. It really lets all of the fun fabrics shine. I never think to do a sashing and cornerstone piece like this, and I'm asking myself why the heck not. That fleece backing is just the perfect choice for this quilt as well. Nice job! Some baby will adore being wrapped in all of your love. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteHow sweet and pretty! I do love how fleece looks after quilting. Do you find that it dulls your needle at all? And that's a great pattern! I'm guessing the sashing is cut from 2.5" strips? Thanks for donating this cutie, Vicki :)
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt! It is sweet and happy :-) Thanks for sharing the pattern tutorial too. I have some charm packs that would do well with this for Hands2Help.
ReplyDeletePretty! Love the quilting that shows so well on that soft back!!!
ReplyDeleteEasy....quick....and...fun....all wrapped up in a really cute quilt!! And such great quilting! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice donation quilt for a baby or young girl! I haven't been brave enough to use fleece on the back, but you are giving me courage to try.
ReplyDeleteThe colors are so pretty and fresh. It's nice to have a quick quilt project and it's even better when you can use charm packs!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great pattern! I love the colors you put together for it. Congratulations on a fun finish!
ReplyDeleteSweet quilt! An easy pattern is great ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable quilt! I need to make an isolette quilt for my new niece and this has me thinking! I love the way the fleece looks; in the fullness of time I will be trying that for a donation quilt to see what I think on my little longarm!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty, simple finish. I love it! I especially love the polka dot sashing. Backing quilts with fleece is the best! I do it all the time.
ReplyDeleteVery cute Vicki. Great way to use those charm packs. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteSuch a darling quilt. The pink fleece really shows off the lovely quilting.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, that's a really cute quilt. Looks great and I'm sure that it will be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely, Vicki! I'm always amazed by how much I love a simple pattern like this one. It's truly perfect for a baby quilt, showing off those fun print fabrics nicely and yes, I love the Minky backing, too. Did you still use a batting with this one? Great way to use up that charm pack!
ReplyDeleteThat is a nice pattern for a baby quilt. Actually, it would probably work really well in other fabrics too.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cute. I love the pinkness. I make mostly boy oriented baby quilts because a NICU nurse friend says there are usually more boys than girls. But every once in a while I need to do some purple and pink deliciousness!
ReplyDeleteIt really is the perfect quilt for a baby!
ReplyDeleteAdorable quilt, how big is it?
