Easy Charm Baby Quilt

From time to time I scour Pinterest for a new idea for an easy quilt to whip up.  One I have supplies for, the right size and fun to make.  I found this tutorial from Jessica Dayton.  I had a charm pack I wanted to use and I also had four fat quarters to throw into the mix.  My fat quarters were always in the same position in these nine patches.

Who doesn't love a good nine patch set off with sashings.  The navy polka dot and white cornerstones did the job perfectly.

I fell so fortunate when friends give me things they no longer feel they will use.  In this case the backing is a pretty pink fleece which my friend gave me.  I assured her I would use it for a donation quilt.  Don't you just love the texture that quilting on fleece gives.  A pretty pink thread topped it all off nicely.

This is a quilt I will donate locally in honor of Hands 2 Help hosted by Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict.

  3. Hi Vicki! I love this simple setting of these charm squares. It really lets all of the fun fabrics shine. I never think to do a sashing and cornerstone piece like this, and I'm asking myself why the heck not. That fleece backing is just the perfect choice for this quilt as well. Nice job! Some baby will adore being wrapped in all of your love. ~smile~ Roseanne

  4. How sweet and pretty! I do love how fleece looks after quilting. Do you find that it dulls your needle at all? And that's a great pattern! I'm guessing the sashing is cut from 2.5" strips? Thanks for donating this cutie, Vicki :)

  11. What an adorable quilt! I need to make an isolette quilt for my new niece and this has me thinking! I love the way the fleece looks; in the fullness of time I will be trying that for a donation quilt to see what I think on my little longarm!

  16. This is lovely, Vicki! I'm always amazed by how much I love a simple pattern like this one. It's truly perfect for a baby quilt, showing off those fun print fabrics nicely and yes, I love the Minky backing, too. Did you still use a batting with this one? Great way to use up that charm pack!

  17. That is a nice pattern for a baby quilt. Actually, it would probably work really well in other fabrics too.

  18. It looks so cute. I love the pinkness. I make mostly boy oriented baby quilts because a NICU nurse friend says there are usually more boys than girls. But every once in a while I need to do some purple and pink deliciousness!
