I got a nice start on it and then he became a UFO while I worked on a few other things. He sat in a corner patiently until one day he said 'would you quilt me already'! I listened;)
Next came the green and orange checkerboard border and the cute little pinwheels and circled everything with the black/gold metallic cork like fabric. The orange and green fabrics were all from the scrap bin. Even though it didn't make a dent it was nice to use some:)
Obviously the quilting is a fun part for me too!
Isn't he just a sweet scarecrow, not sure how many birds he will scare!
After squaring up the little scarecrow I framed it with a black/gray marbled fabric and stenciled on the leaves. I actually stenciled the onto the fabric and after drying added to the scarecrow...I didn't want to mess up and then have to rip!

That scarecrow is cute! And you had the perfect shades of green and orange to go with him, too. Love the stenciled leaves - that's a cool idea!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think he’s going to make more bird friends than scare any away. He is adorable. All your framing piecing is wonderful and the stenciled leaves are incredible! I couldn’t believe you did that. I totally thought they were printed on the fabric. Such a cute wall hanging.
ReplyDeleteAnother cute one! Mixing pinwheels and a checkerboard was a great way to dress up the small scarecrow section. And stenciled leaves - wowza!!
ReplyDeleteHe is adorable! The stenciling adds so much, too. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteVery cute indeed! Love your gold stenciled leaves, they really add a bit of oomph!
ReplyDeleteThe cutest scarecrow ever! Love the addition of the stenciled leaves! Well, I like the checkerboards and the pinwheels too, I just like all if it!
ReplyDeleteSo cute and those leaves are amazing! Love the stenciling!
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty hanging quilt! I love the stenciled leaves once again ☺️
ReplyDeleteNothing scary about this guy. He is too cute. If I were a bird, I'd give him a kiss :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki! Great transition of a panel! No one would ever guess that it started out as a panel - the addition of the pinwheels and checkerboard pieces definitely adds to the cuteness factor. I have to agree that this scarecrow isn't going to be scaring very many birds although I seriously doubt it will be hung in a corn field! Nice job. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteFall is just around the corner, and you are all ready! Cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki, what a gorgeous finish - I love the stenciled leaves. It really adds a lot to it. He may not scare many birds but he will make you smile :-) If you have a chance, please consider linking up to Free Motion Mavericks. Take care.
ReplyDeleteAdorable, as always! Love the leaf treatment and that it is stencil instead of appliqué.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh Adorable!!!! I am glad he called to you to keep working on him!!!
