It really is Design Wall Monday for me as we got my design wall up! This is the first of the two insulation foam boards covered and attached to the wall. We covered them with white flannel. We finished the second foam board a little quicker than the first and I didn't snap a photo of it up.
I am loving having an 8'x8' design wall for the first time ever! This is a UFO I started a year ago. I had half of the blocks done and put it away. This year I decided it needed to make it's way to the flimsy stage. Here you see part of the second foam board where the last column of blocks are.
All the blocks got made this past week and borders made this weekend. My first flimsy finish for the year. I worked on it on New Year's Day as I have heard that whatever you do on New Years Day is what you will do all year long! I hope it holds true!!
This is from a Missouri Star tutorial called Sticks and Stones. After seeing one that Melva made I knew I had the perfect jelly roll to use for it. However once I got going on it I wished for a few more darks to be in it, but looking at the photos I think it is just fine.

I love your jelly roll quilt, Vicki. Of course, browns and tans are one of my 10 favorite colors. Lucky you for such a large design wall.
ReplyDeleteYea for the new design walls! And you put them to great use helping you finish Sticks and Stones. Hum, on my computer some of the left hand words aren't showing up. Luckily I was able to figure out what you meant. Hope you continue to have lots of sewing fun!
ReplyDeleteI like it! Nice job. I love the scrappy border, as the pattern suggests. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous! Your design wall is a great size and it is obviously working well. Sticks and Stones is a pretty quilt. I like the colors.
ReplyDeletegood job on the design wall - I like that quilt
ReplyDeleteHaving a design wall is so great. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteYour Sticks & Stones is beautiful - I love the fabrics, and I do love a good Irish chain peeking through. Yay on the design board, the bigger the better - lol! Except I have to get on my step ladder to reach up top. Sometimes I have to get Hubs to help me, and neither one of us has any business climbing - eeek!
ReplyDeleteI wondered if that was the same pattern Melva had made - I like that one, too! And your version is so pretty in the fall colors. Did you use a jelly roll? Hooray for a new design wall, too - that looks like the perfect spot for it!
ReplyDeleteOh yes - a terrific flimsy! Congrats on getting the design wall up. Bet you'll make LOTS of use of it this winter.
