Sometimes thinking of a title for a post is easy and sometimes not! Two projects to show you today. First up I finished piecing the last delectable mountain table runner that I had kitted up.
Then I turned my attention back to the orange pineapple blocks. This is where I left off several weeks ago.

I decided on how many blocks wide and long I wanted it to be. So I set to making them on Sunday. They look messy here before trimming. This progress shot was taken on Tuesday afternoon.

Here they look much nicer after trimming this round. I am using the Creative Grids pineapple trim tool. You have to trim after each round.
I was buzzing along nicely finishing up these 9 blocks and putting them up on the design wall. And bam, I am one short!! I miss counted on Sunday:( No time to make more as we were invited to the neighbors for Margaritas.
It's been really hot here so we got up early and went on an ATV ride with friends before it got hot. We trailered the ATV's half an hour from home and hit the trail around 7:15 and we were off the trail at noon. We all brought our own lunches and ate in the desert under the shade of a scrub tree. So glad to have gotten out and did something fun. Here is one of the donkeys we saw as he crossed the trail right in front of us and stopped for a photo op! Someone said they spotted two more in the area that we didn't see. Also someone spotted a big horn sheep, we did not:( A gecko was also spotted by us girls.

Those orange pineapples are really beautiful, and normally I wouldn't like that much orange. But they really work!! I'm sure you have to plan outings for early morning. What awful heat. My cousin in Tucson says he plays golf really early in the morning too, before that heat settles in.
ReplyDeletethe donkeys are wild? nice that the others spotted big horn sheep I don't think I have seen them in Arizona but have in other states near there. love the quilts - I will get back to my pineapple blocks when I get done with the Mercantile quilt
ReplyDelete- I started too many again.
Oh no! Isn't that always the way? We're buzzing along getting things done fast and then realize we still have one little thing left to do. No matter--I'm sure you'll get that last lonely block done soon. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

I love your orange pineapples! But a margarita is definitely more important than finishing that last block. ;) Your desert trip looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOoopsy that was me on the last comment, I forgot to sign in! And I also meant to mention, sounds like your desert home is in a friendly area.
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt progress! That is so strange that there are free roaming donkeys there. I'm trying to imagine such here in Minnesota and just can't.
ReplyDeleteLove your orange pineapple blocks! They're going to make such a fun quilt. Glad you got out for an ATV ride before it got too hot. Fun to see the donkeys - are they wild?
ReplyDeleteHappy you were able to get outside before it got too hot. When do you head north? The pineapple blocks look great, Vicki. I need to try that ruler...I've had one for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI really need to make a pineapple quilt someday.
ReplyDeleteI love both your projects. You have a wonderful selection of orange scraps for your pineapple blocks. It's going to be a fabulous quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love your orange pineapple blocks! I wish I enjoyed making the Delectable mountain blocks because I like the look... just don't enjoy the process. Yours are great!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'd say you earned your margarita! Love those blocks you are working on, both the pineapple and the delectable mountain blocks. Looks like a fun outing, glad you were able to do that!
