Cornerstones

 Little by little I have been working on these blocks for table runners that are either fall or look great anytime on antique tables. I love throwing them up on the design wall to arrange the final strips that go in between each block and then a round on the outside to finish it off. The pattern is Cornerstones in a book from Calico Printworks that I have had for ages. 

And then there were four table runners ready to be folded up and wait their turn in line for the longarm. 

It is going to be hot today, I am going to take my little oven outside and bake cookies this morning.

Cornerstones

 Another cornerstone runner made it's way to the finish line. 

I have been using a lot of fall colored strips from this little bin. Soon I will have to cut a few more to get lots of different prints.

My hubby made me some square clappers, they work great to use on these square centers for these runners.

Fall is still in full swing

 I was debating whether to post or not because these are more remakes so you've seen me make these pattern before. But the backings are different on these, LOL. 

Here is the one I made before, see it has a different backing :)

This is also another remake. The previous one is HERE. If you look closely you will see the fabrics are  placed differently as I don't try to replicate the exact placement each time. I just grab each piece, cut and sew each one without looking at a pic of the previous runner. Another will get made this week too.

I mostly show the repeats for my own purpose but also to let you know I am still quilting otherwise I wouldn't have a lot to post about right now.

New but not new

 I have spent a lot of time the last two days cutting out leaf blocks(for runners) and a couple of gingham/tree runners. Thank goodness I invested in the Maple leaf Accuquilt die! 

Yes I know these look just like the ones I posted on Friday. But this one was pieced on Sunday morning and quilted a couple hours later. Now I still need another, yep you guessed it, this one sold right away!

This morning star was pieced last winter and quilted on Sunday afternoon also. Both of these were bound and listed on Monday and then the cutting began for the maple leaf blocks(above).

Remakes

 This was a busy week of remaking three table runners and two wall hangings. I am happy to make more when things are selling:) 

This is Cornerstones by Calico Printworks in one of their books that I have had for many years. I pieced it last weekend and quilted this week. It's already spoken for. So I will be doing another soon. Thankfully I still have lots of scraps cut into the right sizes to make it go faster.

Pieced and quilted this one by Jedi Craft Girl. 

And it's backing.

Quilted the last one of these that I pieced over the winter. It has already left my house too!

Pumpkin Stack is a Karen Walker pattern.

Morning Star was also pieced over the winter but just got quilted this week. 

And last but not least is another leaf runner pieced, quilted and sold. Told you it was a very busy week!!  That is why I didn't get a Wednesday post done!

Last weekend we found lots of our wild plums ripening and falling on the ground unharmed. I picked several and made a comment to the hubby that I felt like experimenting making something with them. Looking online and found people making fruit leather, ok why not try that. Hubby is always up for an experiment so he helped. Well it baked in the oven for hours and hours, somewhere around eight hours. It tasted like Craisins instead of plums when all done! We didn't use anywhere near the crazy amount of sugar in the recipe. Have you ever tried making fruit leather? 

Well it is back to work for me today(quilting that is). Saturday we have all three grands for several hours, hoping to take them to the local zoo and have a picnic while there. What will you do this weekend?

Cinderella plus...

 I love the results of the Cinderella pumpkin wall hanging from Laugh yourself into stitches. I just don't care to make the small little brown HST's. But they aren't so bad now that I use the a die to cut larger and trim down. Two of these were pieced over the winter, this is the first to get quilted. I'll soon be doing #2 as this one is already spoken for. People are getting in the mood for fall!

And the backing, I am liking the triangle hanging tabs, so much faster than sleeves.

I enjoy making this scrappy fall table runner. They are strips actually cut from yardage but lots of different ones to look scrappy. The black is the only one that stays the same throughout. This pattern is called Cornerstones by Calico Printworks.

They are longer than the width of fabric so I piece a coordinating strip in the middle. I'll be soon doing another of this. Things are picking up in the shop and I am very happy about that!

                                      

Have you ever seen a striped zucchini? The seeds were all in the same packet, the other three plants are normal looking zucchini, but this plant has the striped ones. We have never experienced that.

I'll be taking the day off from sewing tomorrow as it's our 43rd Anniversary! So I better get cranking out some product today;) Hope to see ya on Friday.

Weekend finishes

Two finishes over the weekend. I pieced this one at retreat and quilted it this weekend. It measures approximately 16.5"x45" and it sold already so I will put another one on my to do list! I have parts leftover from previous ones so it won't take to long.

Sometimes I take the time to do a cute pieced back! 

I pieced this one on Friday and quilted and bound it on Saturday.

If you have followed me for a while you know I seem to make lots of these round wedge toppers. It's fun to dig in the holiday fabric and see what combo's I can come up with. 

I enjoyed making it so much I cut out a couple more on Sunday afternoon. They are pretty quick so I should have them done in a couple days, I don't have anything on my calendar this week so it will be pedal to the metal!

Day Three at Retreat

This one is a great scrap buster, I love doing it in the fall colors which also sorta makes it antique looking. But it could be done in any color really. It's a pattern in a booklet from Calico Printworks, called Cornerstones. 

Next up was this Starstruck, it is a tutorial from me which you can find under the tutorial heading at the top of this page. Quilting will happen at home for all three of these projects. 

Then I moved on to piecing a new to me pattern. Three yard free pattern called Bravo from Material Girlfriends. However I obviously forgot how to count when I was cutting as I was short four white squares for the star corners and didn't bring the polka dot fabric with! Hate when I do that. So after I get home I will cut and sew the last star to make another row and then add the three borders.

I still had lots of time to chat with my fellow quilting friends in between the sewing. Wednesday was my team of 4 preparing the two meals, french toast with saugages for brunch was a lighter meal than Tuesday. And then for the evening meal we did a baked spaghetti dish with salad and breadsticks. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of any of it!  That evening the three at my sewing table spent a lot of time laughing so hard we couldn't even tell the others what we were laughing at! Do you ever do that?  And then if you try to retell it to people it isn't so funny and they don't get it!!

At any rate since I sewed the first runner with scraps I am linking with Oh Scrap! 

Too Inspired to be Tired

It's been a productive five days!  Sometimes all of you seem to think I am the energizer bunny with all the table runners I produce. So when I was at the dollar store I saw this small notebook and had to giggle a little.  It's so true, so I had to get it! 

Here is what I have accomplished... My Etsy customers have been favoriting fall and winter already with a couple purchases of them also.  So I better up my game and get busy making a few!  I cut for several of these runners but only sewed up one for a quick finish.  The pattern I used is in a Calico Printworks book printed several years ago.  The pattern is called Cornerstones. 

From there, well I couldn't help myself😆 I had been thinking of a gray gingham runner so much that I just had to make it!

Looking back at older photos to get quilting ideas never hurts as I had forgotten about this all over freehand lettuce leaf feather design. So fun to do.  For the most part I quilted three lettuce leaf feathers with one central point and then echoed them to get where I wanted to start the next set.  However, sometimes you have to do one or two of them instead of three to make them fit in.  And that's okay!!  I used a light gray Glide thread for the quilting.  I did this quilting on the fall table runner above too.

I know you have seen ones like this one below a lot, so I'll show you more of the back instead of the front again.  I had to replenish it in the shop. This one uses the same fabric as the previous one but with a different backing.  This runner has been really popular this year. 

And a strawberry runner, you have seen these before also, but this was a replenish in the shop too. 

Now I am working on some snowman table runners, seems weird as it's one of the hottest days so far at 90 degrees. But it feels good to stay inside and quilt with my AC on!  But yesterday afternoon we were invited to a friends house, they just moved into this ginormous house so they wanted to give us a tour.  Holy cow, it's HUGE, 6 bedrooms, 6 baths, so gorgeous!  It was fun just sitting around talking for the afternoon, kinda felt like I was playing hookie 😄
