While waiting for the fabric to arrive I was dreaming of what I should make. Since my crafting room accommodates both my sewing and knitting I picked the sweet striped fabric and made a new valance to spruce up the room. It goes really well my my rainbow mini on the wall.
Being both a hand knitter and machine knitter, I thought some accessories for both would be nice. Here is a little basket to sit by one of my machines to hold some tools. Those sheep just make me smile :) Pinterest is full of inspiration and I found a tutorial for this here.
Now I am sure I am the last person on the planet to make one of these bags. I have wanted to for a long time, so I finally caved and bought the pattern and made my first ever Sew Together Bag! It is so perfect to put either hand or machine knitting tools in. The fun really was in picking which fabrics I wanted where! I couldn't believe I even had the right color and size zippers in my stash for it!!!
Three zippers installed-no problem
Look at the cute sheep selvage on this fabric!!
Why stop there, I am on a roll! Next I needed a basket to hold my current project in(which happens to be a sock). This will sit beside my chair in the family room where I can work on my sock while I watch TV with the hubby. It is a cardboard box covered with fabric. Once again Pinterest to the rescue for a tutorial. I used this one but used cardboard instead of plastic canvass and cut the fabric the size for my cardboard. I also glued my binding around the top instead of trying to wrestle cardboard around the sewing machine.
And last but not least I needed a new bag to hold my hand knitting yarn in. Using a tutorial from Beth at Cooking Up Quilts, I learned how to put in a recessed zipper, not hard at all with Beth's instructions. As you can see I used all one fabric for the front instead of using charms.
Thank you so much to Henry Glass for allowing me to Inspire this month, it's been a pleasure!
