Shine On Me Sunshine

When Carla from Creatin' in the Sticks mentioned she was hosting the Stitching Sunshine blog hop I skipped right over and signed up!  Did you get it- I 'skipped' right over...okay maybe not. Here I will help you out...Now shine on me sunshine Walk with me world, it's a skippidy doo da day I'm the happiest girl in the whole U.S.A.  Do you remember who sang that song?  I'ts Donna Fargo.  There were so many sunshine songs that flipped through my head but that is the one that helped me pick my project for this fun hop.

I wanted a little gift for a friend so I whipped up this mug rug.  I found this cute pattern at Patchsmith that had the little pocket but with a butterfly applique.  I just tweaked it a bit for my project.

I was thrilled to find a little piece of braid to enhance the little triangle pocket where you can insert a little yumminess.

My Janome Syline 7 helped me make this project.  You might remember I bought this machine a year ago when I went to the Road To California quilt show.  I have used it a lot for applique since.  But I had not tried the monogram capabilities yet.  It passed with flying colors.  Making this project brought sunshine into my quilt room and I hope it brightens your day just a bit too.

My Primrose have been blossoming this past week so I snapped a photo to share with you.

Thank you so much for visiting on my day of the blog hop.  Today is the last day of the hop so be sure to go to Carla's blog and sign up for a fun prize.  And be sure to visit all the other bloggers participating as there have been a bunch of wonderful projects to inspire you.

Walking on Sunshine

A fellow quilt guild member, Sharon, asked me to custom quilt her modern quilt. It was a pleasure and so much fun to quilt this for her. Thanks Sharon for a well pieced quilt!!  I worked up a couple designs by taking a picture of the quilt into photoshop and using my bamboo tablet to draw them out. After a couple of emails of discussing the design I should use, we decided on this.

As you can see I ended up adding another line 1/4" away from the pebble line. It looked OK the orginal way, but, I thought it needed an extra line to give it more sparkle;)

I used deep yellow, deep aqua, and white Glide thread throughout this 44" x 44" quilt. I love how the quilting formed a secondary diamond right in the middle of the quilt.

Some continuous curve stitching in the pinwheel gave this top movement.

Thanks, Sharon, for allowing me to put this on my blog!  Sharon found this Walking on Sunshine pattern on Esty at www.sweetjane.etsy.com.
