Oh Baby

Island Batik had sent me a Dotalicious 'Wind' pack of 10" squares in this years first shipment box to use for our Ambassador monthly challenges.  These are super fun brights, perfect for a crib quilt.  I used the freebie pattern from Amy Smart.  I did change up the borders a bit to get the size for the challenge. My quilt ended up 40" x 48".

Here is a peek at the cute Dotalicious line, see all the fun bring colors in the packet on the bottom. The lavender on top is what I used for my background.  The dark purple I used for the binding.

Aurifil lavender was my choice of thread for the piecing and the bobbin while longarm quilting it.  The freehand quilting is a swirl flower type of design.  And you get a closeup of some of the squares.

What a fun project!

And because the quilt is purple, here is what is blooming in my yard that is purple.

Don't forget there is still time to visit all the blogs on the 12 Days of Christmas blog hop, today is day 11.  You can find my day HERE.  Sarah has all the blogs listed on her post today HERE.  There is lots of great inspiration for you to get crafting your Christmas gifts right away!  Also Sarah has had to postpone the announcement of the winners of the hop until Aug. 4th as she has had a family matter to attend to.

It's Friday and I have a finish!!

Well I might have finished it yesterday, hehe. This is the quilt I was working on for WIP Wedensday. It was so fun to quilt it up. I just couldn't help doing some custom on it. I am not that happy with the orange borders but it still passes for a donation quilty hug for a little baby.

In case there are some new people checking this out, I am a long armer with a Nolting 17" machine on a Nolting frame. A great combination for me!  I have an extended base on which allows me to do ruler work easily. I used Deloa Jones's Castle ruler for all my straight line stitching, freehanded the circles and double hook swirl. Curvy rulers were used for the stitching in the orange sashings and border. Glide thread in white and lime green, and Signature orange thread were used on this 36" sq. quilt.

The pink and green were leftover parts from this X Block quilt.  You can see the in progress of how I utilized the leftovers here.
I love the striped binding, I had won it late last year and I can't find the paper who says it is from. If it was from you please tell me!!  It was 4 fat quarters of stripes, pink, orange, blue and green ones. I love them for bindings and there was just the right amount for these size quilts.

Done, done, done!

Yeah! I really do have some finishes to show you this week!! These 3 little quilts are approx 36" sq. Just quick, fun little ones to donate to our local Neonatal. I will deliver them in Feb to the gal collecting them through our local guild.  My personal goal is to be able to donate 12 this year, one for each month, so I have a little head start which is a very good thing :-)

I decided to use our grandson's bouncy chair for a prop! And you get to see a little backing of the orange quilt peeking out of the bottom.
The center of this quilt, the letters and red border, is a panel I picked up for 50 cents at store going out of business! It was pretty small so I added the blue checkerboard and yellow borders and had fun quilting it up.

Orange Charmer I'll call this one. Wish I could remember the name of this charm pack, but I think I picked it up at Missouri Quilt Company a couple years ago when a friend and I were on our way back from Machine Quilters in Overland Park, Kansas.

And here is my first chevron quilt, don't cha just love the nice bright colors for a baby!
