Round and round we go
I have been wanting to use my 10 Degree wedge ruler to make one of these round toppers. Most of the time I see tree skirts like this and I decided to downsize mine to a table topper, so I took a stab at what size I needed to make my strip sets. Made my first cut and realized I wasn't going to get the look I was after unless I made 2 toppers-one the reverse of the other. Next worry did I have enough fabric to do that!!! Wow I will just make it, I think :-) I need 36 wedges to close the circle, guess I better get back to the sewing machine and make more strip sets. You can see what each one will look like here...

ReplyDeleteThis is just fantastic! Love those cute colors! I would applique those on a pillow as a half sun or something...
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. Your work is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFound your blog through Pickles Quilting. I've looked back through many of your posts and wanted to comment that I think you have done some beautiful quilting. I am still learning how to use my LA machine and can only hope to get as good as you one day.
ReplyDeleteI have been seeing those Christmas tree skirts, too! Loving the idea of making a table topper in this style. Looking forward to seeing your progress. PS. Those little booties from your last post.... Adorable!

I have a catalog sitting right here on my desk with the intent of purchasing one of these wedge rulers. Looks like fun stuff can be made with them!
ReplyDeleteAnd making double the projects (2 toppers) all at once is a fun process too! Fun idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment on my blog the other day about being glad that we are enjoying our work and not allowing others judgements to skew that. It's simple, but it's the thing that makes the difference!
