Pumpkin/flower panel

Here come's yet another panel-you can tell I have been in a 'good' rut with panels lately! They are fast projects to finish up when I need a bunch of stuff done :-)  The center pumpkin with flowers is the panel, which of course, I had to spruce up a bit with borders.  Four borders is what I added to each side of this to get the effect I wanted starting with the green.  I have had this panel for a while but I believe all the fat quarter prints came with it as a bundle but there was no pattern or suggestion as to how to finish it up. So the design of adding the borders is my idea. One fat quarter was used for the binding.
Of course you know I have to have some custom quilting fun on these. I was going to just do the hook swirl design in the panel section until Doreen had posted a piece she was working on with the paisley design. I have done this design before but she jogged my memory and I decided it was time to use it again-thanks Doreen!  I used a combination of paisley and peacock feathers.
The light yellow borders received the wishbone design while keeping the busy prints to a minimum of 2 straight lines.

  1. Your quilting is fantastic. I really like the thought of using panels as a way to get in some good quilting practice. The wishbone design in the border looks great. I have not used that before. Now I'm going to have to try it. Thanks for sharing.
