Community Action Day

Yesterday my local Janome/Babylock dealer was having a Community Action sew-in day. I have never went there for sew ins before so I thought why not, it's a good thing and you get to socialize. I cut out a Wiggle Time yesterday to take to sew, it's a fun and fast pattern.

I arrived promptly at 10am, the hours to sew were 10am-5pm. They were furnishing the machines for the day-yeah I didn't have to haul mine!!  I was the only one sewing until after lunch, but during that time the salesclerks came by to chat with me. My neighbor down the street works there now, I didn't even know that! So it was fun getting to know them.

After lunch 2 gals from guild came that I know so that made it more fun. Plus an old friend stopped in to chat with her knitting friends so we chatted for a while too. It was a good day and here is what I accomplished.

I still need to put the top and bottom brown strips on, I had forgotten them at home. The pinks, greens, and blues are scraps, the background is obviously not :D

Kinda upset with myself as the blue was supposed to be in the middle separating the pink and blue sets.  Ya think I might have been chatting too much???   I have not decided if I should rip and redo or leave it. Like I said it is a donation quilt.  Other than that booboo I really like how it came out. The others ladies there did too.

While there I got to use one of their Koala chairs-ooh la la, I love that chair! How many of you have one of them?  Or what do you have?  I think I might be getting an early Christmas present!!

  1. I would never have thought the blue strip was in the wrong place until you said something! Your quilt looks great to me! I really love the starburst background fabric!

  3. I think the blue is fine where it is!
Sounds like a fun time! My local quilt shop does something like that - I should go check it out.

  5. The yellowish row makes a very nice center--it looks good to me. Would look like a mistake only to you who had another idea in mind. Other observers won't know that. Claire aka knitnkwilt

  7. It isn't symmetrical in color placement, but it is pleasing to the eye as is. Sounds like a fun time.

  8. I think any other arrangement would place the two pinks too close to each other. I like it. Koala chair? Hmm. need to look into that.

  10. What a nice way to spend the day & contribute to charity as well...good on you, Vicki...well done. Don't take it apart...no one will ever know you intended it to be different & it looks darling just the way it is.

  11. Aw, it's sweet! You definitely don't need to move the blue row in my opinion. Why do they call it a Community Action day? Were all the items being sewn for charity donations? Sounds like a fun time!

  12. Boy, it would've been fun to sew on one of those machines; a great way to give one a try, I assume! I like your quilt, and I'd leave the blue where it is. I can't quilt and talk either. LOL. Sounds like a fun day! I have a really nice office chair that I love. Wendy at piecefulthoughts@gmail.com

  13. Save your ripping time for some other quilt. (you know there will be something that absolutely needs to be fixed.) This looks great. It's a rather sad commentary on folks not coming to sew on a community action day. Sounds like you had a great day. (and looks that way too.)

  14. I think this looks great as is and will make a great charity quilt. I wish we had groups that could get together and sew in our area. My guild does have work days, but it's usually during the week when I'm at work.
