2nd RSC16 flimsy finish

Last weekend I finished up the first RSC16 flimsy and now I have the second flimsy finished. Ahhhh it feels so good to be nearing the finish of these. I love them but also am tired of looking at them, LOL
So plain and simple here it is...
You will notice I added the top and bottom borders just like the one from last weekend. I needed to make it rectangular instead of square(for my own purposes!).  So out came the scrap bin again, better to use more up so I can get the lid on it;-)  Did you notice how I color coordinated the border with the block right below or above it?  So glad I did that rather than a hodge podge of colors along the width of the border.

I hope everyone is getting their RSC16 flimsies together!!  Next month we quilt and bind them.
Now onto Christmas decorating inside and out for the next week. But I will still find time to sew in between. After all I have to try out my new Koala Sew Comfort Chair-it's my Christmas present. I wanted to get it early to get a special for Black Friday at my local sewing center.  I am not sure that it wouldn't have been that price all along but it sounded good, LOL

What I love most about this chair is that it can raise up to a ridiculous height.  My sewing counter is higher than what a sewing cabinet would be and I have not been able to find a comfortable chair to raise that high until now. The fact that it has 5 legs(a definite plus), instead of my old office chair with 4 and it swivels so nicely. Too many times I have almost tipped that thing over.  Now I won't ever want to leave my sewing room, oh wait it was like that before, hahaha.

Linking with Scraphappy Saturday and Oh Scrap on Sunday.

  1. Love your RSC flimsy! Especially the border - it's just perfect for it! The chair looks great, too. I'm still sitting on a very basic folding chair, and keep thinking I should get something better, considering how much time I spend in it! Lol!

  2. the chair... when it's raised up do your legs dangle? Searching for the right set up... always...

  3. Your RSC flimsy is amazing! I looooove the border - what a great idea to make a square into a rectangle. I love it even more than last week’s. Way to go! And what a smart chair purchase. It looks so comfortable.

  4. The FIRST thing I noticed was how you matched the border colors to the nearby blocks. LOVE that little detail!!!

  5. Your quilt looks great! I love your border and noticed right away that you matched your scraps! Great idea. I'm going to have to look into your chair. I need one that raises higher than the standard desk chair. Happy Sewing!

  8. Congrats on finishing the second flimsy. The matched border is a great idea, not scrappy looking but coordinated. A comfy chair is the most important thing next to, or maybe before, a good sewing machine. Enjoy it!

  12. The quilt looks really nice, and I like the way the borders match the block above it. Happy for you and your chair -- it makes all the difference, doesn't it? Wendy at piecefulthoughts@gmail.com

  13. Your quilt is beautiful! Very clever with the top and bottom border. Square quilts drive me crazy...I'm not sure why! Maybe because my body is rectangle...and it covers me from head to toe!

  15. Lovely top; I like how you used strips to make the fabric and your strip border is the perfect finishing touch!

  19. You crack me up! "Now I won't ever want to leave my sewing room, oh wait it was like that before!" I hear ya! That chair sounds divine! Down here I have a cheap IKEA plastic one with a cushion I covered so the seat is a tad more comfortable. Your quilt is wonderful Vicki, makes me want to have one of those DREAMi moments...I love the colours you used too; mine doesn't read as rainbow to my eyes as yours, and the borders--perfection!

  20. I love the added border. Rectangular quilts are usually my favorite. I also love your chair. I have one just like it. Sometimes I think I need another one, but then I realize I can only use one at a time. However, I do have visitors (big and small) in my room.

  21. That quilt is gorgeous! I love it. I know the feeling of being over a quilt and it is such a good feeling to finish it. You did an excellent job! Very striking!
That looks like a great chair. I have been considering getting a new one as well. As often as I sit there, you would think it would be the best piece of furniture in the house. :)
