My OMG for June

This year I had decided I wasn't going to push myself into working on UFO's or even worrying about them.  I did that for a couple years, and while it worked,  I didn't like the pressure!  So this year it is all about just doing what I want to do when I get up in the morning(sort of).  I still have an agenda of what needs doing.

I started this quilt only a few weeks ago, got the blocks sewn and laid on the design wall and floor.  It was too big for my wall, thus the floor had a job now besides walking on it!  At that point I began to sew them into rows and it stalled and has laid on the wall and floor for 2 weeks at least.  I am now at the point of needing the wall for something else and I don't want to just put all the blocks in a pile and have to lay them all out again.

So in comes my OMG for June.  I need a push to finish it.  So my goal is to finish piecing it into a top and maybe just maybe try to get it quilted too.  I have loads of other stuff I need to work on at the same time so we'll see.

  1. Row markers are your friend. You don't have to leave things on your wall if you have it all laid out like you want. Take it down in rows and put a pin with a row number on it. Then you can sew whenever you like!

    1. Yup! I do this all the time - even when I don't need the design wall. Great suggestion. ~smile~ Roseanne

  2. Leaving the project on your wall or floor may just keep you motivated to finish this one. I really like the colors, so happy.

  3. It looks like a fun, happy, colorful quilt. I wish you luck in finishing it.

I am very similar in that once it is on the wall I want to finish it. The main reason why is I don't enjoy pressing large quilts again and again. It takes too much time. I even lay a finished quilt top on a spare bed until I can get it quilted just so I won't have to repress.

  4. Good news is, it looks like it should be a fairly quick one to piece. You will have it all quilted up before you know it and I look forward to drooling over the pictures :)

  5. We do need to be pushed sometimes and it's often because we need the design wall for something else. It looks like this will be a fun, happy quilt.

  9. Ok, my friend, you can do this. I know you well enough to know you'll buckle down and get 'er done. Those fabrics are so pretty and, like Tish said, it looks like it's quick piecing. We'll all just wait here while you finish it up ;-)

  11. Hi Vicki,
From what you have shared with us, it looks like a fun quilt. I love the fabrics you chose - the prints and colors look gorgeous. This is the time when you need your bestie to step in and just sew it together for you. I'm not loaning you Sue . . . but ship them to me! I'll sew them together for you and ship it back. Wouldn't that be fun if we could really do that? When you get tired of a project, you just had it off with a please finish this for me. I think the June OMG will do the ticket for you. I can always nag you if you want?!! I'm really good at that. HAHA! ~smile~ Roseanne

  13. Sometimes, just "getting it out of my way" is the best motivation for finishing a project! The fabrics are great on this and I'm sure you'll be very happy to have it done :)
