Q2-finish #2

This scrappy red quilt is #2 finish for quarter 2 of FAL.

Simple stipple quilting with a poly batting, and a red binding and this one is ready for H2H.

I used an unusual backing-it is a very soft corduroy that was given to me.  It worked out just fine.

  1. Oh, corduroy backing -- that is going to make a really comfy quilt. We have a corduroy quilt that my mom made and it has long been a favorite. Nice weight, and cozy! Great finish, Vicki!

  2. I've never seen a floral corduroy before. But I remember corduroy being very soft. You've made a lovely red quilt and got another one off the list!

  3. the quilt turned out really well. I had never heard of using corduroy for a backing - does it make the quilt a lot heavier than normal?

  6. Howdy Vicki! You are on a roll - a finishing machine so to speak. Love all these different reds with the nice crisp white fabric. One of my favorite color combinations, and those cornerstones really makes everything pop and tie together. Another one out of the closet! Win/win/win with using that corduroy backing too! ~smile~ Roseanne

  9. I really like corduroy as a backing! Once you get used to the stretchiness, it quilts up nicely. I forgot how much I like the setting on this piece. I might "borrow" it for finishing up my crumb blocks :)

  14. What a cute pattern! I've used corduroy on the front of a quilt but not the backing. Will have to remember that. Thanks for linking up to Q2 of the Finish-A-Long!
