Some goals met some not

And does it bother me that some goals were not met?  No it doesn't right now.  I wanted to start something fun just because I could!!  So I pulled this jelly roll of Riley Blake off the shelf.  Aren't these just such fun colors and the prints, well there are several that quickly became my favorite.

Never wear a black shirt or pants when working with precuts that have been pinked!!  I quickly became polka doted with white specks:(  Oh well I was still having fun and made quick work of a bunch of strip sets.  I am using a pattern by Kitchen Table Quilting called The Iris Quilt.

Before starting the new project above I made 6 more brown/neutral log cabins.

And the last Christmas diamonds table runner for a while. I had kitted up 3 of them and they are all pieced now.

Do you tend to get upset with yourself if you don't meet your goals.  I don't think we should as long as we are doing something, after all that would still be progress!  I am not sure what I will work on this week, perhaps I will get back to working on the black/gray quilt that I posted last week, time will tell;)
Until then I am sending good vibes out to all of you that you will accomplish something fun this week!

Be sure to stop by the HomeSewnByUs blog for To Do Tuesday to see all the fun things our fellow blogger friends have been working on. Perhaps you will be inspired to try something new!

  1. To cut down on the fluff/lint from a jelly roll .. before unrolling it, run a lint roller over the edges.

  2. I always forget about the fluff--until I open a jelly roll!!! All 3 of your projects are super cute, Vicki!

  4. I'm usually covered in threads when I'm done for the day. Like Nancy, I don't remember the fluff until the roll is opened, so I just live with the fluff. You've made some progress on those blocks!

  5. yes those pinked edges get all over everything - especially leggings it seems!! I don't let it bother me if I don't meet goals because I am quilting just for me and make nothing on a deadline

  6. Having spent all day yesterday trying to make a zip bag that I had made 3 times before recently because I kept getting stuck at one step in the instructions that just wasn't making any sense to me, I had to walk away for a few hours. I finally got it done and rewrote the instructions on that step so I would get it next time. Now will I understand what I wrote down when I make another one? Who knows? I cannot always keep my goals, because I get too easily distracted to try new things and some things never get finished at all. And like yesterday, I spent way too much time on something so simple that if that happens too often, I might not be getting much done, lol! Those brown log cabins remind me of the first bed quilt I made in the Grandmothers fan variation in the late 70's all by hand too.

  7. If experiencing a pandemic has taught me anything, it is to be patient. With others AND myself, especially when it comes to achieving goals. It's good to have them and I must always have a list to keep me focused, but I'll take whatever progress I can get :)

  8. I agree - why get too caught up in reaching quilting goals when it should all be fun?! Your new project with that pretty jelly roll looks especially fun - I'll look forward to seeing it!

  9. Your title sounds like my life! LOL I really like those brown blocks each time I see them. If I ever catch up with other things, I have a tote of CW browns and double pinks that are crying to become a quilt similar to yours!

  11. No, I don't get upset, only when I have Christmas presents to get done. I usually add to my goal pile as the month progresses. Love the fabrics you have chosen in the first project. Love your Log Cabin.

  12. Hi Vicki! I just love Riley Blake and you selected a pretty jelly roll to start playing with. I look forward to seeing where those pretty pieces are going. More log cabin blocks! Have you determined a project for them yet? I used to get upset when I didn't accomplish things on my list but why?! Unless it's a deadline project that you've committed yourself to, who cares?!! Thanks for linking up this week. I hope you are doing well. ~smile~ Roseanne

  13. I only get upset when I have due dates for projects (like now, and not much progress shown). Have fun with your squirrel.

  14. I'm especially intrigued by those Diamond blocks you showed in the your last post too. Of course, log cabins are a favourite and so suited to browns. Fun to work with some bright, cheery fabrics to change things up. I have to be careful not to start too many things as I do get overwhelmed, maybe it's my age now heading to 70.
