Jelly Roll quilt

I am tickled to have another UFO finish to share with you. Things have just aligned right for me to finish up several quilts that have been waiting, some longer than others. This one is going on two years old I think. It sat patiently waiting to be quilted and bound so it could go give someone a quilty hug.

The pattern is Ridiculously Easy Jelly Roll quilt by Michelle at From Bolt to Beauty It really is easy and fun to make. The backing is fleece given to me by a friend so I thought it fitting to use it in a donation quilt. An allover stipple kept it soft. The pattern says 58x70 for a lap quilt, I forgot to measure before folding it up and putting in the pile. The batiks were from a very long time ago, I was going to make a quilted jacket out of it but as time went on I knew I didn't want to make another jacket. So into a quilt it went and I am glad to have this done.

We had tornado sirens go off twice yesterday afternoon, we personally didn't see any activity. However we did get over 3" of rain, it's still coming down lightly.

I am glad I snapped this photo of my Calla Lilies the day before as they are now drooping with the rain.

And Wednesday morning I was greeted by these cuties! They are only a few feet from the front of our house. They are cute but darn it when they eat our lilies and hostas I am not so fond of them then!

  1. Happy Friday, Vicki. You are starting the day with a beautiful finish! I adore the fabrics that you used. Have you come up with a name for this quilt yet? It is gorgeous. What a treat to see the does and fawns. Have a great weekend. Hugs.

  2. I love that quilt! The deer family is sweet, but they do eat stuff you don't want them to. When I lived in WA state, a deer came into our backyard and ate the entire strawberry plants I had planted! There weren't any strawberries on them yet! Daryl~patchouli.moon.studio at gmail dot com

  4. Beautiful quilt top finish. Thanks for the link to the jelly roll quilt pattern source. Love your Cala lilies. I planted some for the first time this year and they bring color to my garden.

  6. What an attractive quilt, front and back! Is that pattern from one of Michelle's books? We had deer eat our new pansies one year in a subdivision, and that was my introduction to the fine palate of deer - lol! Your lilies are just beautiful.

  8. I love your family of deer - so pretty. I"m lucky they don't eat my plants I guess they find enough to eat in the forest. I have always intended to make that pattern but never have.

  9. You've really done well with the finishes this week! Good for you! I really like the layout of this jelly roll quilt. We haven't seen any fawns yet this summer which is actually quite surprising. We see does come through the yard nearly every day, but no fawns. We also haven't seen any baby turkeys yet but the females pass through a couple times a day. However - a mama bear with a cub was seen about 20 miles north of us. That's something new!

  10. That's a great finish, Vicki! You really are on a roll. Those lilies are really pretty, and look at the baby deer, too - wow! I know they eat things, but I can admire them from afar!

  11. VICKI! What an inspiration you are to all of us. You are crankin' out those UFOs like they were, well, waiting to be finished. HAHA! LOVE Calla Lillies. Do you dig they up each Fall or are they okay to weather the winter? They are truly my favorite flower or bulb, if you want to get technical. {{Hugs}} Can't wait to see what you finish next. ~smile~ Roseanne

  13. Great finish, and perfect backing! This weather has been a bit much lately, huh? That is quite a herd of deer - fun to see, but not fun for your garden!

  14. I never tire of seeing what quilters do with my patterns! This one is a beauty, for sure ... I love how the neutral cream and brown let those bits of rainbow shine. Well done!

  15. Hi Vicki, well done on your latest UFO quilt finish. It's perfect for cuddling under when the weather goes back to cold (hard to believe!) I feel the same way about the bunnies in the yard - too cute but they'll eat everything. After a few years of this, my plants are now mostly not interesting for them :-) Thanks for linking up to FM Mavericks.
