Cornerstones

Another cornerstone runner made it's way to the finish line.

I have been using a lot of fall colored strips from this little bin. Soon I will have to cut a few more to get lots of different prints.

My hubby made me some square clappers, they work great to use on these square centers for these runners.

Another pieced backing to make this long enough for this runner.

Christmas Trees

This is a new project, never before made until the past few days!

Five Christmas tree blocks made using two dies from the 8" cube from Accuquilt. This makes flying geese so easy!  I added a polka dot sashing to the sides of the tree before surrounding the block with red, green, white stripe.  The outside border consists of holly and chickadees, because chickadees sit in trees.

The backing needed just a bit more than the 44" WOF so I added a green polka dot strip in the middle of it.

Processing scraps

I have kept a bin loaded with all the fabrics I used for my maple leaf runners. There was parts, strips and chunks in there, some leftover from when I did paper pieced leaf blocks. It was getting to be so messy, so Saturday afternoon I did something about that. I processed a lot of scraps into 2.5" squares.

If it was a WOF x 2.5" strip I didn't cut it up, that way I can make strip sets and then cut. My bin looks much neater now! Squares are in one bag and leaf parts in another bag. The strips and sashings are in one pile. There are a few chunks I didn't process yet, I'll do that as needed.

Then I got to making the borders for these two runners that I pieced on Friday. All ready for quilting soon as I am out of these. I love using up some scraps in the process!

Fall is still in full swing

I was debating whether to post or not because these are more remakes so you've seen me make these pattern before. But the backings are different on these, LOL.

Here is the one I made before, see it has a different backing :)

This is also another remake. The previous one is HERE. If you look closely you will see the fabrics are  placed differently as I don't try to replicate the exact placement each time. I just grab each piece, cut and sew each one without looking at a pic of the previous runner. Another will get made this week too.

I mostly show the repeats for my own purpose but also to let you know I am still quilting otherwise I wouldn't have a lot to post about right now.

I want to thank all of you that left me condolences on my friends passing, I appreciate your kind words.

Holiday quilting

It's been a productive week, lots of quilting happened. From the start to the end, picking fabric to binding each one.  And all from the stash. First up a 10 degree round wedge topper for the holidays. I picked the focus fabric, the holly one first and then picked the coordinating and background fabric. I have a tutorial for this topper on my tutorial page if you are interested.

Definitely time to finish some snowmen for the shop. This is my Snow Dudes pattern. I pieced two of these and only quilted the one for now.

Buffalo Plaid has been a favorite in the past and I hope they continue to be. Two of these pieced and only one quilted for now. I have two other table runners and a wall hanging I am working on too.

I received some sad news yesterday, my Wisconsin quilting friend of 20 years passed away recently. We connected online over our knitting machines and then learned we were both quilters. I have been to her house several times while we attended the Wisconsin quilt show and always looked forward to when we could get together. The last two years she invited me to a quilt retreat that she attended with friends from her area. I am already missing her as we texted often sharing our ideas and accomplishments of our quilting projects. I knew something was going on with her health this summer, but wasn't expecting the end to come so soon. My heart goes out to her family. RIP Sandi B.

Pumpkin Harvest

Pumpkin Harvest was long overdue to be made again. Pieced and quilted in the last few days.

A fun little wall hanging at 12"x 25". The pattern can be found in my Esty pattern shop HERE.

I put triangles in the corner to hook a dowel rod in. Well shoot I put the backing on upside down, didn't notice till I took the photo! It's the backing and won't be seen:-l

Or it can be a door banner.

Short and sweet for today;)

Sunflower fun

I started stitching this Sunflower piece over a month ago. It didn't take long to finish the cross stitch and then it sat, I kinda have a theme with that on several projects!  Well yesterday I decided I had just enough time to make it into something. It's a freebie from our friend Melisa who generously makes and gives us new stitchin' patterns all the time, thank you Melisa!!

I knew I wanted it to be a little pillow. And I had fabric in mind as I just finished another project with it. The brown with gold metallic dots was the perfect framing fabric and then I added a somewhat checkerboard gold and ivory fabric to finish it off. I say somewhat as when I started I didn't figure the aida cloth size right for the checkerboard. Therefore the checkerboards ended up an odd size and doesn't match in  the corners perfectly, I am okay with it because it is done;)  A half hour later and it was done and on display in my entry way.

Since it matched the wall hanging I just finished it needed to be a prop!!  Squeeee, it's perfect, I am in love with it!!  The wall hanging is my pattern called Welcome the Sunflowers which can be found in my Etsy pattern shop HERE.

Pumpkins, gourds and more

I just had to quilt this up yesterday. Seriously amazed myself as I really like it now that it's done! If you read my Wednesday post I commented I never really liked the gourd/pumpkin panel after I got it home. So it had been in time out for at least 3 years.

The panel squares have a plum background so I added a plum batik to them before adding the orange batik border. Cross hatch was perfect for the panel squares. And the orange border got piano key quilting.

Looking through the stash for a backing yielded this plum purple fall leaves which was perfect for it. I had to add the orange strip to make it wide enough and now the fall leaves print is all used up except for a bit of scrap. Tomorrow I will hopefully get better photos and get it listed. Today was a very cool day and gloomy so these were the best I could do.

When this was done I went on to cut out a few other runners so perhaps they will get worked on in the next few days.

It's Fall

Hello September which typically means its fall! So Monday I put up a few of my fall decor items.  This is in our entry way where my treadle always resides. I made this pumpkin quilt many years ago, it's still a favorite for September. I believe it is a Thimbleberries pattern.  I might add a few more items to this display but I ran out of time. We are getting ready for some Arizona friends to visit today and have dinner with us.

In between cleaning house yesterday I managed to get this one pieced. The four pumpkin/gourd blocks are part of six blocks on a panel I purchased long ago. After getting it I was not inspired to make something with it and it sat in time out at the bottom of a show box of panels. From time to time I pulled them out and looked at them and didn't like them.

A couple weeks ago I pulled it out, again, determined to do something with it. I cut them apart and threw them on the design wall, picked a few fabrics that would go with that coloring of plum, orange and a funky green. And then they hung out there until yesterday. I sashed and border them with a plum batik and an outer border of orange batik. Boom done! Well it needs quilting yet. But the funny thing is I kinda like it now, hahaha.
