Q2 Finish A Long-my list

In an effort to get some flimsy's out of my closet I am going to list a few for the Q2 Finish A long.  There are several hosts where you can link up your 'I want to get this finished' projects;)

So without further ado here is my list:

1. Sailboat quilt needs quilting and binding.

2. I pieced most of this top on my featherweight in Dec. 2017😮  So it needs quilting and binding.

3.  A string top that needs another row of blocks added, then quilted and bound.

4. This one needs quilting and binding.

5.  This one is just a pile of string blocks so far.  So I hope to finish piecing, quilting and binding of this one.

6. Quilting and binding for this one also.

7.  This one is now staring me in the face while I am thinking---'What was I thinking when I pieced this one', LOL  Seriously I don't like it at all.  It's an oldie of about 3-4 yrs ago.  I know that I was trying to use up the leftover triangles from other projects. And I was trying to come up with something funky and modern...I think I achieved that, haha.   Anyway quilting and binding is needed.  I decided to just get it quilted and donate it for H2H this year.

I know there are more in the closet that need attention, but these are ones that I really really want done and out of here in the next few months.  So I am linking with  Q2 2019 Finish A Long hosted by many wonderful bloggers.   And at the same time cheering on each and everyone of you that link up your projects that you want to get finished.   May we all succeed in meeting our goals!!

The last FAL for this quarter

Wow I actually have finished all 7 of my FAL goals for this quarter!!  And with time to spare:-)  This quilt is made up of leftovers from this X Block quilt I finished up last year. It always feels great to use up leftover parts and make them into a usable quilt instead of throwing them in the trash.  This one will also be a donation quilt.  The true color of the sashing was hard to capture, it is a pretty light lime green. So I used a bright lime fleece for the backing. The stitches just sink in and show so much texture on the back. I also used a lime green Glide thread in this all over freehand quilt design. This is a crib size quilt.

I'm really glad I signed up all 7 of these projects so I could get them done and out of my closet. They were all projects I could have easily pushed to the side for another year.  Now I have room for new ones, LOL

You are lucky you are seeing a brown deck-I took these pictures last week. This morning we have an all white world again!  It started snowing last evening, we have a couple inches on the ground is all. The trees are so heavy and white this morning, looks like Christmas all over again!

I'll be linking with The 2016 Finish A Long when it goes live for linkups at the end of the March.
Sunday March 20th I will be joining in with Oh Scrap!

Another FAL done

This would be #6 of my 7 FAL goals for this first quarter of 2016.  I feel like the Little Engine that Could-remember that book...I think I can, I think I can.  I think I can meet my goal this quarter!
Not very many pictures, it's been cloudy and today it's rainy.

Having leftovers from a Pat Speth Nickel quilt, that I completed last year, is what makes up the pieced blocks in this quilt. It will make a great lap size donation quilt for a guy. Ebb and Flow is the name of the panto I used on this quilt. Hobbs 80/20 batting and Signature mother goose thread was used.

Linking up with FAL when the link goes live at the end of this month.
For today I'm linking at Freemotion by the River.  Looking for inspiration today? Then head on over to see what others are working on or have finished up.

Black,white,and yellow

Finally the sun came out for a couple moments, I grabbed my quilt, camera and jacket and hopped out into the snow just for you!!  Well for you to see another goal that I have accomplished that is.

This weekend I decided it was time to just get this one on the frame, do my easy allover hook swirl that I love doing, and get it off the frame. And that is exactly what happened in about 1 1/2 hours, then Monday I got the binding on and was waiting all week for the sunshine!  This is my 5th goal met for my first quarter of 2016 FAL

You can't see much of the quilting on top but the bottom is yummy!  I used a thicker yellow fleece and no batting for this quilt. Glide gray thread on top. By now you might have guessed Glide is my favorite thread to use.

And on to the next project(s) quilting table runners and piecing some other runners too. Have to vary my activities so I don't get bored, LOL

Will be linking to the FAL at the end of the quarter.  I am so happy I only have 2 more quilts to quilt and bind by the end of March in order to meet all 5 of my goals I set. But, of course, you know I work on more things than that during the quarter!!

There are a few more linky parties happening so think I will join them, NTT, Whoop Whoop.  You can find the links on my left side bar.

Have a great weekend doing whatever you choose to do.

Blue Strings

Happy Valentine's Day!!
I have goal #4 done for the first quarter goal at FAL.  You can see all my goals here that I listed for the first quarter of 2016.

I chose to sew strings from my stash to a muslin base for this quilt. I started these blocks way over a year ago, maybe more than 2!  I only had to piece 4 of them to get it finished when I picked it up again and that was sometime early 2015. So then it moved onto the 'to be quilted' pile until now. It feels great to have it ready to donate. Some of my latest donation ones will be split between a nursing home and Project Linus.  One would think my string stash would be depleted by now with all that I have been showing you, but NO they are not.
I figured a little pop of red binding would pull it all together-I mean really it didn't have enough color yet, did it, ROFLOL

Linking to the FAL when it goes live at the end of the quarter.  Today linking to Oh Scrap

FAL goal #3

This was just a flimsy(quilt top) at the beginning of Quarter 1-it was one of my seven  goals to get finished. I managed to get it quilted and bound and will be entered into the FAL when it goes live at the end of the quarter.  Linking up with Oh Scrap and Freemotion by the River.

This quilt was all made with scraps except for the solid tan. It feels great to get a quilt made for almost free!! I made up the design as I went according to the size of scrap strings I had in the bin. I was aiming for a nice lap size quilt and that is what I ended up with ;-)  The quilting is all freehand free motion. The binding is made with leftover greens also. This one will be another donation quilt.

I will leave you this little guy to gaze at, it's a daily occurrence of several coming through our yard.

Stay tuned for this QBL(quilting blog land) hop. Link at the top of left side bar! It starts Feb 9th.

Spiderweb finish

The spiderweb quilt is finished and crossed of my list for Q1 finish at She Can Quilt. I will be linking up at the end of the quarter.  We have had  a lot of cloudy days so not a very good picture.  Instead of batting I just used a fleece to serve as the batting and backing. It becomes a soft cuddly quilt that way. It is destined for a donation quilt.

And since it is a very scrappy quilt I will link up with Cynthia for Oh Scrap on Sunday.

I hope you are all staying warm and quilting up a storm this week. It is very cold here today at 1 degree, and tomorrow the high is to be -9F.  A great day to stay in and sew!

First Quarter goals

Once again I have many goals for the year, but these are what I am hoping to get done in the first quarter of 2016.

Leftover X block needs quilting and binding.

 Strippy needs quilting and binding.

 Spiderweb needs quilting and binding.

String quilt needs quilting and binding.
.

16 patch needs quilting and binding.

Green strings need quilting and binding.

Off set Squares need quilting and binding.

Can you imagine how empty my shelf would be if I got these all done!!  Well that can only happen if I don't make anything new and we all know that won't work for me!!

The link up for the Q1 FAL goals is now open at She Can Quilt.  Won't you join me in finishing up some UFO's.

Snowmen Q4 goal

I have the 19 snowmen that I entered as one item for the 4th quarter FAL all done! I am so happy to have them ready to go to the craft show this week. And I already sold one of them :-)

Here is what they looked like last time you saw them-pretty naked!!

Whew, they look sooooo much better dressed up in their finest-don't cha agree?  This is Mr. Buttons.

And these 12 guys are Mr. Stumpy.

I'll be linking up at the end of the quarter. Hopefully by then these guys will all be sold!
Stay tuned, tomorrow I will be having a snowman parade.

4th quarter goals

I am down to the last hours to get my goals set for the 4th quarter for FAL, I am having a hard time but I think I have to choose all things that need finishing for my craft shows anyway, but I would love to pick some things I just 'want' to do for the fun of it. It seems this time of year I always want to be doing something other than what I 'need' to do.
So here goes... 1. A wall hanging that needs quilting and binding.
 2. Another wall hanging that needs quilting and binding.
 3. Yet another wall hanging that needs quilting and binding.
 4. I need to get these 19 snowmen done(entering this as one item)

5. It would be nice to get this donation quilt finished up.
 6. This donation quilt needs quilting and binding.
I think I will keep my list at 6 items, I should be able to do that right!

Last one for the quarter!

Finished up this wall hanging that was a goal for the 3rd quarter at On the Windy Side Finish A Long yesterday. So that means I met all 6 of my goals I entered back in July-whoot whoot!!  The center was a panel meant for pillows I think, I got a great deal on it and bought several of them, this is the second one I have made up into a wall hanging. I added the light, red and blue borders and finished the corner stones with a friendship star block.  Batting-Hobbs 80/20, Thread-Glide on top and SoFine in bobbin.  Freehand hook swirl in the center, U turn's in the blue border, and used a wavy ruler to do the waves in the outer 3 borders(treating them as one). A little continous curve in the blue stars.
