Beat the Heat Island Batik blog hop

Welcome to my regular blog followers, and to those of you visiting for the first time.  I hope you will stay and take a look around, maybe even begin to follow me.

I am so happy that today is my day on the Beat the Heat Island Batik blog hop. I am sharing my quilt that I made with Island Batik Seedling collection that was released at May Market.  You should see them in your local quilt shops now or ask for them.  There were many collections released and they are all just the yummiest!!

In order to 'beat the heat' my hubby and I love to go camping and kayaking. The picture above is from our trip to Sibley State Park.  The lookout tower below is Mt. Tom within the park.

In January, Island Batik sent us ambassadors our first box that contained lots of gorgeous fabrics. Included was this bundle that was marked 'Surprise' so I was not able to show you until now.

Here they are all spread out.  So much fun and I adore the colors!!  At the time I received them, I was vacationing in Arizona and I happened to have taken my sewing machine with me, so I began working on this quilt then.  I just couldn't wait to work with them!!
The pattern is a freebie from The Fat Quarter Shop called Layer Cake Lattice.  It works up very fast.

My hubby and I had fun trying several different shots with this quilt.
Aren't they just the cutest prints, look at the tan one with the watering can and little garden shovel. There are wheelbarrows, clippers and boots too. Others have mushrooms, leaves and seeds! Perfect collection for a gardener.

I was thinking of flowers when it was time to quilt it so I freemotion quilted an organic allover flower design on my Nolting Funquilter.
One more shot in the tower.  Check out my quilt hanging from the railing!

This is the first time for using cotton batting from Hobbs.  It performed well for my long arm quilting, however it does leave a bit more lint. But I know to clean out my machine more often so there are no problems.

Island Batik provided the fabrics, while industry partners Hobbs and Aurifil supplied the batting and thread.  Thank you to each of these companies for their generosity!  I love being an Island Batik Ambassador and I hope you enjoyed my post for the blog hop.

There are several individual giveaways happening along with the fabulous one from Island Batik.  Island Batik is having a new giveaway each week of the hop!  Scroll down to the end for the info on this weeks giveaway.
