Patriotic continues plus more

Both of my recent patriotic wall hangings sold almost instantly. You can see the first one here and the second one here if you missed them. One lady bought both of them, one for her veteran brother and one for her son. I had one more I wanted to list and thought I would just ask her if she needed any more. In the mean time I listed it and before she could answer me it sold to someone else!

The first lady was disappointed and I told her I had more panels like this and I would make her one. Done and sold! Same panel and design with different fabric and quilting.

We spent last weekend up visiting our son and DIL three hours north of us. So much fun catching up, sitting out by the fire pit, picnics, and playing cards. The hubster and I also enjoy a bike ride while they were busy working on Monday. We headed home Tuesday.  We also enjoyed seeing Lupine along in ditches near them.

I took all the slippers, 20 pair, I knit over the winter to our DIL who gives them to her church group for distribution to those in need. The free pattern is called Grandmas Slippers.

Plus I have been crocheting hats in various sizes in the evenings while watching TV. I completed 21 of them. Her group will also distribute them. I am using up yarn, which makes me happy, but also helping to keep some kids warmer which makes my heart warm.

Patriotic Panel Table Runner

Looking through photos this weekend I discovered a few finishes that I haven't shared with you.  This one all started with this flag panel that I think was made for placemats. I had picked up two of these and the first one became part of a wall hanging a couple years ago. This one I decided needed to be part of a table runner.

To bring the flag panel up to 12" I added a red and white 1" checkerboard around it.

The 12" finished stars were made using the companion angle dies #13 and 14 from my 8" cube for the spikey legs of the star.

One other project I hadn't shared was a remake of my patriotic wall hanging. This is a fun and easy one to whip up, you still have time before the 4th!  You can find my pattern HERE.

At 13"x 26" it is a quick make for that empty little wall you might have.  I tend to applique my stars on after I have quilted the piece because the quilted layers stabilize for easy appliqueing.

Patriotic Wall Hanging

A while back a friend asked if I wanted some patriotic fabrics she no longer wanted. Oh yes indeed, and they were so pretty.  I had been wanting to make her something with some of it as a thank you. And I happen to know she loves patriotic and has purchased several runners from me. So I figured making a little wall hanging would compliment her decor.

I used dies from my Accuquilt 8" cube to make the star.  And then added a rectangle of 8"x16" of the red with white star fabric and cut the angle at a 45 deg. to make the point.

This was quilted on my Nolting 17" FunQuilter.  The straight lines were made using a ruler to guide the machine. I didn't get a good photo of the star quilting, but it was done with a curved ruler. I gave my friend the wall hanging on Friday when we went to lunch. She loved it and hung it right up when she got home and send me a photo of it.

I think it turned out really cute and now I think I have to make one for my Etsy shop.  It also has sparked some seasonal designs that I think is going to be joining it.

Wishing all of you a Happy 4th of July.  Yesterday we went for a 16 mile bike ride.  And today we got to meet our brand new Granddaughter!!  She was born on July 1st. and joins her two brothers.  For safety reasons I won't post a photo, but she is a sweetheart!!
