Looking through photos this weekend I discovered a few finishes that I haven't shared with you. This one all started with this flag panel that I think was made for placemats. I had picked up two of these and the first one became part of a wall hanging a couple years ago. This one I decided needed to be part of a table runner.
To bring the flag panel up to 12" I added a red and white 1" checkerboard around it.
The 12" finished stars were made using the companion angle dies #13 and 14 from my 8" cube for the spikey legs of the star.
One other project I hadn't shared was a remake of my patriotic wall hanging. This is a fun and easy one to whip up, you still have time before the 4th! You can find my pattern HERE.
At 13"x 26" it is a quick make for that empty little wall you might have. I tend to applique my stars on after I have quilted the piece because the quilted layers stabilize for easy appliqueing.

Hi Vicki, I just love these glorious red, white and blue pieces!
ReplyDeleteThat's a neat runner, Vicki! That flag panel looks 3-D, and I love the red and white checkerboard border. I think that background fabric you used for this is about my favorite ever!
ReplyDeleteLovely table runner. I like the spiky legged star blocks. Hum, maybe I should make one of those as a block to send to my friend with the others I've made. Hum... I'll have to figure the math out. My cube is a 9". Nope that won't fit the requested sizes. Oh well I still like the idea. Thanks for sharing the numbers. Do you machine applique your stars on the finished wall hangings? Zigzag? Both look quite festive.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely patriotic pieces. Just ran into my tiny stash but have a bit to do for a sale on July 1....but maybe July 2 I will play and make something for the 4th!
ReplyDeleteWhat a vibrant table runner! Great use of the panel section.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to use the panel for a table runner. I love patriotic themed items!
ReplyDeleteLove your table runner and wall hanging. The checkerboard border around the flag is magnificent! I like your cross stitch pieces as well.
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful patriotic pieces. I like the way the panel looks with the squares and the stars on the end, particularly.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool runner! I need to pull out my patriotic banner and get it up!
ReplyDeleteI love this, Vicki!! Those spiky stars really set off that beautiful flag panel. Thanks for linking up with MM!
