Believe me I am not trying to rush summer, I am just trying to get items ready for the fall shopping. Lots of people shop early so they have the item in hand when they want to decorate. This panel was an easy one to whip up as I had done it before, the design worked so I kept it the same.
Checkerboards that finish at one inch, and three inch finished HST's bring this fall themed panel to life.
For HST's (half square triangles) I like to use a ruler when quilting to get an even curve. Ruler work does take more time but it's worth it to me. A ruler was also used to cross hatch the checkerboards.
The loops in the the green border and the hook swirl on the panel itself are all freehand and quick to do.
This wall hanging came out at 29.5" x 39.5" and is now listed in my Etsy shop.
And to show you I am still enjoying summer...a few flowers that have been in bloom at our house. The bleeding heart has come and gone but I forgot to post it.
These super dark purple iris have such big blooms, there were 16 blossoms this year, they just finished.
It's gonna be a warm one today so I hope you stay cool. I'll be out to lunch with a friend today, but in between that I hope to kit up a bunch of table runners. Have a great weekend everyone!!

That's a cute finish, Vicki! I love the two-sided borders, if you know what I mean! Pretty flowers, too. I don't grow any of those, so love seeing them. Have a fun day!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Your flowers look so pretty! I was very happy to see my big orange lily was still blooming this week when we got home, because I was afraid it would have been all done while we were gone.
ReplyDeleteOh that is super cute! love the checkerboards!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great panel quilt. Your quilting is beautiful, too. I like the fall, and many people do, getting back into routines that summer disrupted, so I think it's fine to be prepared for the rush of people who will want to decorate. My stuffed pumpkins are waiting in the wings!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the pictures of your flowers. I don't have luck with calla lilies growing again. They bloom and look beautiful once, then I don't see blooms again, but we keep trying. Orchids ditto. But the amaryllis were very rewarding this second year, and the fire lilies are about to burst, after everyone else's in the neighborhood bloomed for two weeks. LOL
Very nice finish. Makes me think differently about a couple of panels I have hanging around. Please tell me you meant the individual blocks were 1" not the whole section of checkerboard. Your quilting is envy worthy. (That's me envying your work!) Beautiful flowers. We came back to some beautiful lilies in the front yard. I haven't worked my way around the house to see if the ones on the side are blooming. Thanks for sharing your garden.
