Looking for something

Have you ever been looking, and looking, and looking yet again for something in your sewing room...Silly question of course you have!!  I knew I had some petal shaped paper pieces as I made one flower about a year ago and then set them aside as I got busy with other things. You guessed it, I couldn't find them now that I want to continue the project.

I've been looking high and low all over my sewing room, every nook and cranny yielded only the finished flower.  So with another attempt Thursday evening I dug into Fibber McGees closet.  It was a big job going through every project box, bin, tub, bag.  Still, going through found many flimsy's  waiting to be quilted. OMG I was almost literally sick with how much I have crammed laid in there!

Saturday morning I was motivated to get one of those UFO's out of the closet and onto the frame and got it quilted and bound!!!  So something good did come out of the digging in that closet.  This quilt will be one for H2H going on over at Sarah's blog.   The pattern is Preppy by Andy for the Five Fat Quarter Fun free patterns found HERE

When we were on our big road trip in January and February, I started this the third night.  Three days later I discovered I hadn't cut all the blue sashings, so I could only get this far since I didn't bring the extra fabric with.  Darn, here is the beginning of another UFO :(   It was such fun working with the brights again after sewing all the snowman runners!

The backing was donated fleece from one friend, another friend had given me thread and still another friend gave me some batting she didn't want anymore.  I have wonderful friends that know I do quite a few quilts for donation, so what they don't want I get:)

I wanted this quilt to be cuddly and not spend a lot of time quilting so I went with a larger meander using a light minty green thread.  At this point done is good and I want to get it out to someone who needs a quilty hug on a bad day. Using fleece as the backing leaves so much texture after quilting.

So what happened with the search for the flower petal paper pieces?  Yes I found them but not in that closet!!!!!!  There was one other stand in the room that I thought I had searched but I decided I better do it again(out of frustration) and I'll be darned if they were not there.  Under some fabric, if you can believe that, LOL

I will be linking to Tish's UFO busting party.
