Looking for something

Have you ever been looking, and looking, and looking yet again for something in your sewing room...Silly question of course you have!!  I knew I had some petal shaped paper pieces as I made one flower about a year ago and then set them aside as I got busy with other things. You guessed it, I couldn't find them now that I want to continue the project.

I've been looking high and low all over my sewing room, every nook and cranny yielded only the finished flower.  So with another attempt Thursday evening I dug into Fibber McGees closet.  It was a big job going through every project box, bin, tub, bag.  Still, going through found many flimsy's  waiting to be quilted. OMG I was almost literally sick with how much I have crammed laid in there!

Saturday morning I was motivated to get one of those UFO's out of the closet and onto the frame and got it quilted and bound!!!  So something good did come out of the digging in that closet.  This quilt will be one for H2H going on over at Sarah's blog.   The pattern is Preppy by Andy for the Five Fat Quarter Fun free patterns found HERE

When we were on our big road trip in January and February, I started this the third night.  Three days later I discovered I hadn't cut all the blue sashings, so I could only get this far since I didn't bring the extra fabric with.  Darn, here is the beginning of another UFO :(   It was such fun working with the brights again after sewing all the snowman runners!

The backing was donated fleece from one friend, another friend had given me thread and still another friend gave me some batting she didn't want anymore.  I have wonderful friends that know I do quite a few quilts for donation, so what they don't want I get:)

I wanted this quilt to be cuddly and not spend a lot of time quilting so I went with a larger meander using a light minty green thread.  At this point done is good and I want to get it out to someone who needs a quilty hug on a bad day. Using fleece as the backing leaves so much texture after quilting.

So what happened with the search for the flower petal paper pieces?  Yes I found them but not in that closet!!!!!!  There was one other stand in the room that I thought I had searched but I decided I better do it again(out of frustration) and I'll be darned if they were not there.  Under some fabric, if you can believe that, LOL

I will be linking to Tish's UFO busting party.

  2. that is a cute quilt - I loose so many things in my sewing room - one day I needed a certain ruler and knew I had one and couldn't find it for days - finally I ordered another one and then it turned up of course

  3. Bahaha on the flower petal pp! LOVELY finish for H2H though as a result of that hunt! Somehow I do NOT picture you with a ton of UFOs....

  4. I love your quilt! Would you believe I have started cutting the same pattern out as well? I did it a few weeks ago, but it is sitting in the closet on hold for a bit while I make something else. Maybe you were sending me some quilt vibes!

  5. Isn't that cute! Looks like a fun and quick pattern - scrappy four patches could even work, couldn't they? It's a great finish, Vicki, and I'm glad you found the lost paper pieces, too!

  6. So is Fibber McGee all tidy and organized now? I hope you did the true quilter thing and put those other UFOs back in there and shut the door. Haha. We wouldn't want to finish all the UFOs right away, that would spoil the fun. Glad you found the petals though!

  7. It was fate that you lost those papers so you could find and finish this UFO! I love those bright fabrics. Darling pattern, too. I just adore argyle and have three sweaters in that style. Hm, I wonder where those are? If I go looking for my argyle sweaters, will I find a quilt UFO? :)

  8. Hi Vicki! I'm glad the story ended on a happy note with the petals being found. I really like this quilt - and it does look like a preppy argyle sweater. Of course, I adore the navy dotted sashing too. Someone will really love receiving this quilt and now there's a little extra space in that closet! Win/win/win all around. ~smile~ Roseanne

  9. So glad you actually did find the petals! I know how excited I get when I actually finish something so I am celebrating on this one with you! True confessions, how many UFO's do you have? Or is that rude like asking a lady her age? :D

  11. Such a great quilt finish. Sometimes I think we are sent on these wild goose chases so we can find a forgotten treasure and finish it. Glad you found your petals!

  12. This was a win win...you still found the flowers and you busted a UFO :) It's so frustrating looking for something you know you have but just can't quite put your finger on where it is. Glad you found them in the end.
