Weekly goals

 On this second To Do Tuesday of November I report another good week of meeting goals.

Goals set and met for the week were:

1. Poinsettia runner ✅✅ I was planning on only one of these but finished two! These are for the big local order.  That order consists of these two poinsettia runners, 8 of Holly red and white toppers, and 2 Gnome wall hangings.  

2. Bind another Valentine runner✅ I posted about that on Friday

3. Piece 2 more of those red and white 24" toppers (I have an order of 8 total) ✅ I did piece two of them and only finished one completely which now makes 4 of them ready for the order!  I am halfway done with that order, need it finished by Dec. 1st. 

4. Turkey runner ✅ 

5. Anything else I have time for. ✅  These two were finished yesterday and relisted in the shop.  They are from my pattern Tilted Trees.

This week's goals:

1. Snowman runner

2. Hexie snowman topper

3. Two Gnome wall hangings

4. Anything else I have time for

Weekly goals

It's Tuesday again and time to check in and let you know what I have accomplished on my goals list for the past week.

1. Quilt and bind a snowman table runner ✅

And it's backing is pieced with a fun snowman print and coordinating colors.

2. Quilt and bind a snowman wall hanging ✅  I posted about him on Sunday, you can read about it HERE.  

3. Quilt and bind a poinsettia table runner ✅

4. Start cutting red batik fabric for 8 identical table toppers ✅  Yes I did cut all the red and all the white batik and I have enough to make them without purchasing more fabric!!  I forgot to get a photo while it was still light enough so you will just have to take my word for it!  

5. Work on whatever else I have time for ✅  We picked our apples as there was freeze warnings out. 

Those bags, tub and pails are full. You see the one I am holding, it's huge!  They aren't all like that but several really nice size ones.

So we made an apple pie.  I followed the Betty Crocker cook book recipe and wished it were a bit tastier, more spices needed I think.  Do you have a favorite recipe you use for apple pie?

Also in the do whatever else category is another Starry Path table runner in fall colors was finished.  The Accuquilt die was used for this. 

For this week:

1. Finish another snowman wall hanging-or maybe even two!

2. Finish another sunflower table runner

3. Start piecing the 8 identical table toppers

4. Attend a longarm class-we are having Julia Quiltoff come do a day long class for our local longarm group

5. Prepare blog post for the Gremlins, Goblins and Ghouls blog hop. My day is October 19th 

6. Whatever else I can fit in

To Do Tuesday #30

As predicted I didn't get much done.  Hubby had his surgery on Thursday to put a screw in the broken bone in his foot.  So Wednesday was the pre surgery DR appt. and since he can't drive for 6 weeks I will be doing that.  Thursday we were up at 5:30, be at the hospital at 7 for a surgery that doesn't take place til 10:30(but only takes 6 minutes to perform) is crazy in my opinion.  Hurry up and wait is what the whole day amounted to.  I was exhausted after that.  I know hubby was too.  We finally got home at 3pm and we only live 15 minutes away!   So continue to wear the boot and crutches and no weight on the foot for six weeks.

My other accomplishments this week, non quilt related, was to learn how to use the tractor mower and mow some of the lawn.  I will not mow the hills/slopes though.  And then with DH's supervision I managed to unhook the side by side from the camper floor and get it backed out.  It's tight, not much room to spare. And then after that it was backing it into a crowded garage without taking out the garage door or hitting his car!!!  I succeeded!  But the biggie was getting the fifth wheel hooked up and driven out to the dealer for them to fix some factory goof ups. Again I succeeded all with DH's help of course.

So in the quilting arena this week there wasn't much done... Two of these guys, if you look at the border fabrics you will see they are different.











And one poinsettia runner quilted and bound.  I had the flowers all done from last winter.

So this week is going to be all about getting those orders done.  Do you feel fall in the air, we sure have the past few days, it's cooler and you just feel it coming.

To Do Tuesday #10

I see I didn't even set a goal for this past week in last weeks To Do Tuesday post!  But in my head I knew I wanted to continue to work on the poinsettia wedges.  I managed to put together 15 flowers that will be ready to put on 5 table runners at some point later this year. 

It's a good thing that was the only thing on my mental list to work on as I have caught a nasty cold and haven't felt like doing much.  So my only real goal is to get better this week!

To Do Tuesday #9

Even though I am two days late posting I still want to verify that I have sewed this week and completed two of my three goals.  I was away from my computer for a couple of days but I remained busy before that. 

1.  Snowmen table runners. Five all pieced. DONE!  If you are interested I have a pattern for these in my Etsy pattern shop.

2.  The red/gray string blocks. Sadly they didn't even make it out of the box:(

3.  If time allows start sewing the red wedges for poinsettia table runners. Yes, worked on!

Poinsettia's

Since my sunflower table runners have been a hit I wanted to turn them into a poinsettia.

A few months ago armed with several red batik fabrics I got busy cutting out my wedges.  After sewing them together I wasn't sure they would resemble a poinsettia enough.  So there they sat and sat and every once in a while I gave them another look and discovered I just wasn't ready to work with them.  So on the back burner they stayed.  Until this week;)   After quilting one of the sunflower runners I layed the red flowers over the sunflower to get a better idea of what it would look like.  I cut out holly leaves and yellow centers. That is what tipped me over the fence to get it made.  

So what do you think, does it make you think poinsettia when you see it?  I listed it in my Etsy shop so we'll see what happens.

Poinsettia finish

First let me say thank you to everyone who visited my blog yesterday, there was a lot of traffic!! A big thank you to all who left comments, it was so fun to read them all!!

This wall hanging is a pattern from Joined At the Hip. I modified it a bit using one fabric for the border and also put in a tiny border between the large border and the binding. It measures approx   19.5 x 35". I quilted a baptist fan style design in the border and an allover design called spinners(from Diana Phillips)  in the background. Batik red poinsettia's are raw edge applique as are the leaves. A very fun wall hanging to make. The above pic makes it look crooked, it really isn't, LOL
