When I started this quilt in Dec. 2014 I was just making it for fun with no idea in mind that I would want to keep it. It was made from strings in the string bin. It was fun to make and I was happy with how it came together. And so many of you said you loved it when I showed the flimsy(top) before too. Last fall a client came to pick up a runner she ordered and she saw another quilt on my couch and she loved it and bought it!! So I needed a replacement and when I finished this earlier this week I thought it just went so well in our living room that I might just keep it!
I was able to get outside and snap a picture or 2 today ;-)
A local friend just gifted me the backing fabric and it was the perfect size I needed-it was meant to be! Thanks Ginny :-)
It measures in around 53x63. Hobbs Batting 80/20 and quilted with Glide thread.
I'll be linking up at the end of the month at Red Letter Quilts. And Oh Scrap on 2/21/16. Please check out these linky parties as there is always something wonderful to look at!
Love your living room. Quilts looks great on the couch!
ReplyDeleteNow I can say Congrats! on your finish, since I jumped the gun earlier. :) it looks great in your living room! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely Vicki. It's one of those that the front, backing and quilting are done up wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteWhen first looking at your coffee table I thought oh my goodness her table has a quilt design pattern for the top. then I realized it's a runner. Your living room looks like a comfy place to be.
The quilt really looks good on the back of your couch. What a lovely finish-love the feathers you quilted and a great OMG finish.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful string quilt! I made a whole bunch of these a few years ago to empty my string boxes, and used phone book pages as well. I used someone's suggestion to only sew the first seam to the paper to anchor it, but from then on just use the paper as a placement guide rather than stitching through it again. Once the block was trimmed to match the paper's edges, there was only a single seam to rip the paper from. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteYay Vicki! This looks great on your couch...what if a customer wants to buy THIS one though...haha. I love a quilt with all neutrals like this, and the backing you were given is the perfect addition. Great quilt in the snow photo.
