Tis the Season for giving and that includes us Island Batik Ambassadors. We were asked to make something to donate to an organization of our choice. I have made many quilts to donate again this year with my own stash of fabrics, therefore I had no problem making another item to donate.
I chose to make a wall hanging using the turkey from my
Gobble It Up pattern. The
Island Batik fabrics I chose to use are these gorgeous fall colored strips. They are just perfect for turkey tail feathers!
Gobbler, the wall hanging, measures 16.5 x 16.5 after I added a small border and half square triangles.
Isn't he adorable!! Gobbler will be donated to my local quilt guild. The fall of 2017 we will be having our quilt show which we hold every other year. We members donate items to be auctioned off at a Silent auction. Part of those proceeds then get donated to a local organization of the guild's choice. Always a worthwhile cause.
I hope you all are having a wonderful Holiday Season and I encourage you to make something to donate somewhere as it is a very rewarding feeling!
Happy Holidays!

ReplyDeletedrooling over that background quilting!
ReplyDeletegobble gobble, that's great!
ReplyDeleteTurkey feather background! Is there nothing you can't do?! Beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun quilt. Your fabrics are perfect for Mr. Gobbler!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely darling. I really like the extra triangles in the borders. I am sure whoever buys it will just love it too.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet quilt!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I think it's great that your guild donates the proceeds from the sale to charitable causes. That's a nice way to raise money and gives you the chance to sew up a cute wall hanging like this. Usually when I think of donation quilts, I think of giving the quilt itself to a charity, but this way is really quite versatile, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteA-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! I know somebody will snatch him up in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteBless you for all that you do for so many others, Vicki.
Tell me, please, what stitch length did you use for your free motion background fill? I LOVE how nice it looks!!
Love the donation quilt! The quilting is really nice too. Hope you are tucked in and staying warm after this last storm came through. It's really cold out there today! Wendy at piecefulthoughts@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love the turkey! So precious! I sent 6 quilts to Utah yesterday and dropped off 5 quilts to the Linus project in my town. Now I have room to create some more donation quilts!
