Continuing with a blast from the past-my blue/mauve collection left from the 90's. While digging through my bin of blue and mauve's I found 18 star blocks all pieced, I added 6 more and some sashings. And why not use more of those fabrics for a piano key border and a pieced back! Even if these are not current colors I think it turned out really cute!
And here comes the Scooter- A free pattern by Lindsey Weight at Fort Worth Fabric. What a fun quick quilt to make up for baby! This is the first done of the three I have pieced lately. You could make this totally scrappy or a little scrappy(which is what I did).
When it came time to take pictures, I mentioned to DH that I needed to come up with better ways to take pictures instead of just throwing the quilts on the deck or ground/snow. He said how about the bright orange grandson's sled. Wow it worked perfectly for color!
An allover freehand flower complimented the orange outside border fabric.
Both those quilts look great. You know I love that flower quilting! While rose and dusty blue may not be in style, it is a beautiful quilt. You'd be surprised at some of the quilts I have sold that I thought would never sell. People are so unique.
ReplyDeletecute quilts!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for doing something with those stars you found! I think it's beautiful! I'm definitely a fan of the orange baby quilt - so bright and happy!
ReplyDeleteYou made great use of your blue and mauve fabrics. The stars steal the show and take the focus off of the color. Love you bright scrappy quilt. It pops against the snow.
ReplyDeleteLovin' both a lot!!!! Especially the Scooter quilt!!!!!! Sunny and warm.....just the perfect "doctor's order"!!!!!! (not warm anywhere in TX at the moment!!! Snow in Dallas/Ft Worth right now!!!).............
ReplyDeleteGood job using the blocks you found. The blue and mauve quilt turned out darling. I also love the flower quilting on the bright quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love star quilts, no matter whether the fabric is current or not. The Scooter quilt is such a nice, bright quilt at this time of year! I love it. Wendy at piecefulthoughts@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts turned out beautifully! The blue and mauve doesn't really look dated in the photo, it's a fun quilt. Love the brights in the baby quilt. Congrats on two fun finishes.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the pattern, too. It's nice to have a collection of cute, simple patterns like that to whip out kid's quilts.

ReplyDeleteVicki, I love the piano key border on the star quilt! It looks great! Do you think that will work on the star quilt I bought from you? It's kind of what I've been envisioning but wasn't sure. Sure do like yours though!
