Watermelon anyone?

In one of Heather Peterson's (Anka's Treasures) table runner books she has a watermelon table runner. While I love the watermelon I wanted my table runner to have a different look. So using her watermelon design I adapted it to the size that works for me. I was still using her triangular ruler to make my wedges.

So much fun making these three that I could almost feel the summer sun on my face and the taste of watermelon in my mouth... almost but not quite.

And doesn't that red gingham just scream picnic too!

So glad I bought a bolt of this pretty green for backing fabric as it is coming in handy for sure.

After my dental cleaning this morning I want to stop at JoAnn's and see if they have the right size bamboo knitting needles. I want to knit a pair of slippers, just for me, why...because I can! When I get back home I plan to get another donation quilt on the frame.  Are you piecing today or quilting or something all together different?

  2. Isn't it fun to sew up something summery?! That's how I felt about my Fresh Berries project, too. You should definitely get those bamboo needles and knit up some slippers for yourself - treat yourself!

  3. You do such a great job with your table runner patterns. I have several of Heather's books including at least one table runner one. I must take a look at it. Are we suppose to get a million ideas as we surf from blog to blog? I'm drowning in ideas but really should keep working on my on going projects. I currently have two tops hung over the long arm because I've run out of plastic hangers to put them on. Sigh.

  5. What a great runner! I like what you did and the fabrics you used. I guess I was doing something a little different. I was organizing all my Cheri Payne Sweet Land of Liberty patterns and photographs by the six units that make up the quilt. They are now all paper-clipped together in groups. I'm only finishing Unit 2, and will take at least the rest of the year, and maybe next year to finish them all, but it is so much fun to work on it.

  6. Your watermelon runner looks so juicy and sweet! I just love it. Today I'm sewing binding down on this wedding quilt I've been making. I'm in the home stretch! Happy Quilting. :)

  7. Hi Vicki! Yay for knitting a pair of slippers just for you! I wonder what color you'll make? Those watermelons look good enough to eat, and that green fabric is the perfect tone for the rind. And the red-checkered fabric looks just like one appropriate for a picnic. Nice job! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  12. What a great job you did making the tablerunner your own. I can almost taste summer. - which is a blessing. It is a mighty cold dreary spring here.
