First the progress part of this post...Monday I mentioned I was working with these fabrics. Today I show you that I made progress on this little quilt. The pattern says to cut into rectangles to make these blocks. I chose to make strips and then cut into the block size. I hope to finish piecing to show you the flimsy on Monday.
Here is the strings part of the post. I often mention how my string mess collection has gotten out of hand and from time to time I sew up a few more. I'll never get caught up but I'll keep trying:) I am not sure if I will snowball the corners like I did previously or choose something different. I sew different width of strings and then trim to make consistent size blocks. No hurry on these so don't look for a finish for a long long time, it's just a filler type project when I have the time/desire to make a few more.

You certainly are making progress on those pretty fabrics. Love your strings!
ReplyDeleteMy scraps are overflowing again too. I was doing pretty well using them up, and then just set them aside. Those spring colors are going be make a lovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteThose spring(y) fabrics are going to make a pretty quilt. Love the string blocks. These would make a great RSC project, I think.
ReplyDeleteThat pink, floral, and light green are pretty together! I like your string blocks, too. A filler project is always a good idea - sometimes that's all you feel like doing!
ReplyDeleteI have a box full of strings, but I just can't find the time to do anything with them! I want to use them for Log Cabins, but just haven't made myself start anything. LOL Love your method to using them.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki! I love those nice springy-looking fabrics. It's been so dreary here lately - I'll bet those are fun to work with. Do you sew your string pieces to a foundation piece or just sew the strips together? I've never made string blocks. Hope all is well with you. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteAny work with strings and scraps is commendable. I do love the fabrics in the rectangle blocks!

ReplyDeleteEVery time I see that Flower fabric it reminds me of my childhood room! I had sheets very similar and my grandma made me a quilt to go with it. I just love those fabrics!!!
