Repeats

The past few days had me remaking the same designs, sometimes with different fabrics.  Another cupcake runner in patriotic used a different backing fabric. It wasn't wide enough so I added another star piece to the middle.

Another of my original stars and stripes runner. This was one that was pieced last summer and leftover. I like finding leftovers from last year because it is a quick finish!

And it's backing

I had the fabrics picked for this one last year and didn't get around to cutting it out. That also speeds up the process when I don't have to hunt for all the fabrics!

I pieced the backing to use up some fat quarters.

And this one is giving me fits-I can't for the life of me get the colors to photograph right. The dark greens are supposed to be a dark sage color and everything I have tried just gives me a dark forest green. If anyone has any suggestions please tell me! I want to get it listed in my shop and without the right colors I can't!

I intended to write this post last night and time got away from me. I did start something new yesterday and hope to have it finished over the weekend, we'll see.

Hope you all have a good and safe weekend.

  1. Finished table runners and table mats. . .WOW! You have been so productive! I don't know the answer to your color photo question. I hope someone does!

  2. Oh yes!! More beautiful runners!! I have no answers to the color issue in pictures either. Sometimes I just can't get the colors right no matter how the light changes.

  3. I always love the circle topper in any of the colors you have made it in

  4. You find the best patriotic prints! I like the binding fabric you used for the first two. Some colors are just hard to photograph - I have that same problem all the time!

  5. Your runners are so gorgeous! I just love your original pattern, and it is perfect for this year! I tried reducing the "warmth" in your photo, but it also reduced the warmth in the surrounding background, so that didn't work. I'm wondering if you put it on a different surface, something light or white, it might make a difference? The wood you have it on might be influencing it. Are you using flash in your photo? You might try it outside, or close to a window in natural light, with no flash. On another note, I have seen Etsy listings that stated the color was not showing quite as it should. It never kept me from buying fabric - lol - so you might just say "message me with any questions about the color".

  6. Hi Vicki! I'm sorry you are having issues with getting the color correct in photography. That is SO annoying. I know when I put something blue in the background, it makes white show up correctly. Green is a combination of yellow and blue, so try placing an object with one of those colors as a background piece? I sure would be curious to hear what does work. Sometimes taking a picture outside on a gray day works, too. Not in sunshine because it washes out the colors. Good luck, my friend!! {{Hugs}} a bunch, Roseanne

  7. P.S. I Googled it, and this is what AI says: To accurately photograph sage green, you must control your lighting and white balance. Because sage is a muted, desaturated green with gray or beige undertones, it easily shifts to a harsh neon or dull brown under incorrect lighting or an automatic camera sensor

  8. You are on a roll, girl! Adorable new table quilts. Just having a few steps ahead of the game sure helps the quilting process along. I hope you figure out how to fix the color of the photo, Vicki. It is such a pretty quilt in any shade of green. Hugs.

  9. I figured you were buzzing along with projects. It's so great when you have all the fabric on hand and ready (no searching). I spent more time searching this week, than sewing. For the photo, I'd try an outdoor photo not in bright sunight. Another idea to try is to take the photo from the "side" rather than straight on. Sometimes I can get a better color photo that way. If that doesn't make sense, let me know, and I'll send you a photo.
