Three finishes

In my last post I showed two table runner UFOs that needed done ASAP. Well here they are all finished. I had to sew on their borders, quilt and bind them. 

A quick hook swirl quilting was perfect to get these done fast.

Not only did I finish these two but also quilted this morning star table runner. Cut using the Morning Star Accuquilt die. This was pieced over the winter, I have one more identical to quilt. 

I hope to get a few more quilted over the weekend as we have no plans as of yet. We created an opportunity to see our daughter, SIL and the three grands earlier this week so that was good since we hadn't seen them for quite a while.

Retreat day 2

We take turns making meals here, Tuesday's team made blueberry french toast and sausage for breakfast! YUMMY.

I was so full I had a hard time getting some sewing done.  But I managed to get these two GE Designs table runners pieced. 

In the afternoon evening time I appliqued and bound my Gnome runners. I forgot the pink thread for their noses so that will happen at home. 

For supper that night they made us Chicken Cordon Bleu, here are the leftovers!

And a cherry pie filling jello.  The apple crisp didn't even get touched as we were all so stuffed!

Strips 'n Salsa

 These runners are called Strips 'n Salsa and are in the Stripology book by Gudrun at GE Designs. They are so fun to make. She does call for 1 1/2" strips but I resized to make with 2" strips as I like the finished size better this way.

Since they are pretty easy to make I chose three different themes of fabric. First I did the pumpkin one and then moved onto the blue snowmen one and last but not least a yummy cake pop one.  

They are all quilted with a freehand hook swirl design, no surprise there right!

Wouldn't this cake pop one make a great present for the baker in your life!  I just want to eat one right now!! Have you ever make a cake pop?  The closet I have come to it is making red devil cake balls.  I did buy the sticks, but never used them, yet;)

Wishing you all a great quilty week ahead! I need to bind two pineapple table runners and then I have more I need to quilt.  I did a lot of piecing last week.

A sewing weekend

We were out camping a few days last week so I had to get some sewing time in this weekend.  The weather wasn't the greatest for much outdoor activity anyway.  On Wednesday night I ordered two Accuquilt dies. And wow are they fast they arrived Saturday afternoon!  They were having a sale and offered free shipping on orders over $35.  As you know that is not hard to reach!  I really like using 2.25" strips for my binding on everything I make.  So I ordered that strip die and a 4.5" tumbler die.

I have used the 2.25" strip die several times already.  I set right up to cutting binding for several table runners, a lap quilt and a wall hanging.  So you will be seeing more finishes very soon!  Here are the first two of them.

I finally figured out how I wanted to quilt one of these star table toppers so it was just waiting for it's binding.  All of the star points received straight line quilting by using a ruler on my longarm. A fun swirl in the middle and simple stippling in the light background.  The pattern is an oldie from Stitchin' Friends called Seasonal Star.

It was not a good day for lighting for a good photo.  The red is a pretty cherry red and what might look like holly leaves on black to you is actually a dark green with holly leaves and it has metallic specks in it as does the light background, so fun and sparkly in person but it wanted no part in taking a good picture!  And the weather doesn't sound all the cooperative in the next couple days either:(

The backing is the only part that photographed true in color.

Next up was this green snowman table runner.  It's a fun pattern in one of the books by GE Designs.

A simple allover swirl hook looks great on this style of table runner.
