Hunters Star baby quilt

I finally got back to working on the Hunter Star blocks a few weeks ago. 

The first blocks were made in February which I blogged about HERE.  The blocks were so fun to watch come together, would you like to see how they are made?  I cut them out using the Hunter Star Accuquilt die which made them easy to cut and easy to piece accqurately.  Here are the pieces all laid out in order.

And sewing the first pieces together. The die cuts the correct angles of each piece so they line up so nicely. The pieces on top after sewn and pressed look like the one on the bottom.

After those are all sewn and pressed it is time to sew the sections together. Easy peasy! Four of these quadrants make up a 12" block.

And before long you have a quilt;)  With the addition of a skinny green border and larger pink outer border my quilt measures 43".  

Pink flannel for the backing was given to me by a friend. Simple stipple quilting will keep this quilt soft for cuddling.  

On Sunday Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict opened up registration for the annual H2H, Hands2Help comfort quilt challenge.  This quilt will be donated locally for the challenge. I believe the challenge runs from now until early June, so I will have time to finish up a few more. Do you like to make quilts to donate?  It is so satisfying to give knowing they will comfort someone in need. It is also a great way to try new things and turn it into a quilt whether it is big or small.

Sweet bunny love

Down the rabbit hole I went again😀.  These cute little guys have stolen my heart.  I can see them in all different color ways. But I kept it to only two for these finishes. 

Just imagine this bunny hopping around in the green Easter grass. The gingham might represent the fence and he's such a good little bunny staying inside the fence. 

The next color was a pretty purple, and man was it hard to photograph! It kept coming out blue instead of purple. I asked my hubby for ideas of how to make it more true to the color. He came up with shining a red light at it while I shot the photo and it worked!  The purple might be a field of lavender or lilacs that the bunny is frolicking around in. Both of these have the same backing fabric. 

I have also started a little baby quilt in order to try out the Hunter Star Accuquilt die.  Now I have used other methods of making a hunter star and I thought they were great. However now I am totally liking the Accuquilt die. Everything lines up so nice and it is easy to sew. No Y seams.  You make four 6" blocks and join them to make a 12" block. There are four blocks here. I am thinking I'll do nine blocks for a 36" quilt and maybe add borders. We'll see, I'm just playing and enjoying the process with no hurry to get it done. 

And to get out of the sewing room a bit here and there I have been putting puzzles together this month. A friend loans me a few at a time. This hummingbird is a whole different kind of puzzle than I am used to. The only ones I have ever done are square or rectangular and this one is just the hummingbird attached to the flower with only his beak! The brown is my card table.

To Do Tuesday #15

Here we are with another week gone flying past.  Let's see how my To Do Tuesday goals for the week went.

1. Make another Hunter star table runner in Patriotic fabrics.  I didn't even show you the first one yet and it          sold yesterday.  I'll show them both at the same time.  EDIT:  LOL I must not have had enough coffee this

    morning when I posted as I did show you the first hunter star!!!  HERE  ya go.   DONE

    It is very similar to the first one, but the border fabric is different.

2. Finish a southwest table runner I am currently working on. DONE x 2

    This is my second Kokopelli table runner, which is my original design.  It is available in my Etsy shop. 

Instead of working on goal #4,  I decided to make another southwest table runner with these three Island Batik orange fabrics.  This is my version of a Navajo block. 

3. Quilt two more H2H quilts. DONE

    These will each get their own post so they are ready for the H2H link up party later in May. 

4. Quilt a leaf table runner. NOT DONE

5. Maybe start piecing another donation quilt. NOT DONE

I don't feel bad in the least that I didn't get all five of my goals met.  Because I did a few more things that I needed to do at that time. I'll share those later on.  Sometimes I meet the goals and sometimes I need to replenish items in my shop. 

For the week of April 28th-May 5th, my goal is going to be really loose:)

Goals 1 thru 5 are to make 5 table runners-which ones you ask.  Whatever I want to when I wake up that day!!

Goal 6 is to quilt an H2H donation quilt.
